Gulley would be on my not-overly short list of players that I would vote ahead of, and choose before, Balentine.

VanVleet is the Larry Bird recipient with Cleanthony Early and Ron Baker coming in 2nd and 3rd.

Cotton is the DPOY.

Milton Doyle is the FOY and NCOY.

Khristian Smith wins 6th man.

IMO both Cotton and Gulley were deserving of 1st team honors over Balentine. They are both far better all around players. Not saying DJ isn't a good player in his own right. He is. But at this point there are a number of better players.

How is Doyle NOY over Daishon Knight? Didn't Knight more or less own the NOW award?

It was posted that there was a tie and that is why it was a sixth man first team I'll bet DJ wasn't the cause of the tie. It isn't at all shocking the attack on Balentine. When hasn't the Aces, on this board been attacked at any level. There isn't a gimmick to Aces basketball Perhaps you need to read up on Motion offenses.

Congrats to those who have been honored today by the Valley!

Somehow, when the sun comes up tomorrow, DJ is still going to be first team all conference, and all you biased experts (not the word I really wanted to use) can spend all day tomorrow posting that he shouldn't be.

Tekele Cotton was not one of the POY candidates for the coaches/media to vote on. He received one first place write in vote to edge out Walt Lemon for 8th place.

The tie was almost assuredly between Balentine and Odum. The other 4 were no-brainers.

Having 4 players on the first team all conference from WSU would make the Valley look even weaker than what the majority of people already believe. Don't think that wasn't taken into consideration.

As for DJ, I'm an Aces fan but he didn't deserve first team. DJ is a scorer, scorers take a lot of shots. My problem with DJ is not his shot taking but that he is not a clutch player. I can remember several games this year where DJ failed at crucial times with either mishandling the ball, missed free throws or missed shots in crucial situations. First teamers don't do that. Colt Ryan made those shots and didn't turn the ball over. Ryan was also a much better defensive player than DJ. He was a true first teamer.

Also, I have yet to hear what the problem was with DJ during the SIU home game. When your home announcers are questioning you attitude on the court that isn't good. More than several people at the game made comments that he seemed to be pouting the entire game and ended up with 2 points in a close game where his teammates gave their all. First teamers don't act like that on the court. It could be he was ill but I haven't heard anyone say such.

DJ has a ton of talent and is young. Next year with some adjustments and mental growth I can see him being a true first teamer and legitimate POY candidate.
