This is a compelling match-up to me; two teams that underperformed their ability on the season. Obviously, SIU has improved from where they were, and UNI just isn't a good road team this year. I expect good things from both teams next season.

Given UNI's recent form I wouldn't give as much credence to their road record. If this UNI team had been playing like this in Chicago Peoria and Carbondale they'd have 3 extras wins. That's not saying they'd have blown those teams out and that Im trying to rag on those programs, but those were games they barely lost and it's reasonable to believe this team could've scratched out a couple extra points and forced a few less baskets.

Let's not forget that UNI just accomplished something that only Wichita St has been able to do during the Valley season: Beat Indiana State in Terre Haute.
[Insert snappy comeback]

I do not know what to think of InSU. I did not see them play in their last few games. Perhaps they were horrible. But I am curious what their mindset was. They had to come into this year thinking they had a shot at a league title, and a shot at an at-large bid. The odds of both went to 0.1% after the second game against WSU. Perhaps they mailed in the end of the season, but will show up as the good team they should be, this weekend?

From what I have been able to watch, it looks like UNI and SIU are playing some of the best basketball outside of WSU right now.

To our understanding, Coach Lansing took blame bc he said after they locked up the 2 seed they just coasted (excuse but probably right). With that said I feel like Ind st will get back to playing how they were earlier in the season. (Hopefully) As far as the tournament goes it will be WSU vs Ind st/UNI/SIU for the championship game. Wont be surprised if any 1 of those 3 meet WSU. If I had to label the 3 it would go something like this. Ind st (Expected to play on Sunday), UNI (Most Likely to play on Sunday), and SIU (Not surprised to see play on Sunday). BTW Larry Bird had an interview and he said he wants to see Ind st get to Sunday and beat WSU, but if that does not happen he wants WSU to go undefeated and all the way. So shockers know that Larry Legend is rooting for you once the NCAA starts.

This seems like a solid observation.

BCPanther wrote:Honestly the only team with a chance to beat Wichita is UNI. It's the only game where the coaching matchup is even close. Marshall is that good. There's a pretty decent gap to Jake, but the gap from Jake to #3 is bigger .

UNI also played Wichita to a 9 point game without Nate Buss.

My upset special for next weekend is Bradley over Indiana State. I think the Trees are done. Hadn't played well then to lose how they did today will just kill you.

Wichita wins in a close game. Good show for CBS.
