Well he did take 21 shots and the rest of the 4 starters combined for 27...

He is a good player. I really don't think people are saying he is terrible. A lot of people just didn't agree with him being 1st team All-Conference. I think there are a few other players in the league who could put up the volume of shots he does and score 22 per game. There are some really good players in the league.

Like I said the other day he would start and be the leading scorer for every team in the league except WSU...I think he showed his range today.

He's a great player.

He's also on a team that just went 14-19.

Being a great player that makes great shots doesn't translate to winning, even with how bad the Valley is this year.

I think many of us on here have blamed Marty's scheme more than Balentine as a player. He's excellent offensively. The scheme is weak.

He is incredibly efficient.

The problem is you claim there is a lot of talent, but outside of Mock and Balentine there isn't any talent. The fact that you let Balentine shoot the ball 507 times is all you need to know. If there was more talent and Evansville was more of a team I think his scoring average goes down, and they get more wins. Look at the tops scorers in the league and look at where their teams finished. Balentine, Jackson, Lemon, Carter. The highest one of those players teams finished was 6th. The fact of the matter is the good teams have more options and aren't reliant on one player. Marty banks on having one player doing everything, and that will never translate to a conference championship.

Austin Ruder, Milton Doyle, Ron Baker, Zach Lofton, or a dozen more could score that much at Evansville if they traded places with Ballentine.
He is a very good player that would do well on any Valley team but his scoring would drop in a "team" context.
