Well using you logic it depends I guess you say Marty's system is flawed so is there a coaching isuue or a talent issue? I guess over the next couple of years we will find out, why is it the 2 teams we swept last year have issues with Marty's system also both of your coaches go on and on about Marty's coaching...bottom line I think the talent is better than it was 3 years ago but if we don't start winning next year I say it's time for a change. Good luck WSU!! see ya next year I hope

I don't know what the issues are. I know Evansville has been mediocre at best over the tenure of Marty. You can't argue otherwise, that's a fact.

I think Evansville has two very fine players. I think Evansville has to have both those players play lights out just to compete in any Valley game (I'm basing this off their record in valley play this year). With a little more quality depth, they will be competing at the top senior year of those two. Problem is it all starts over again.

Appreciate your take and agree hoping transfer from villanova is good he will have 3 years so he will be with the freshman, so hopefully we will be solid next 3, really that sums up most of the valley teams other than WSU right now hoping to compete for a champioship every few years at least that's the way it seems.

I do think Marty's system is flawed. I do think Evansville has some good talent. I think Balentine's an excellent scorer and I would LOVE to have Mock play for WSU.

But it still comes down to the record. And Evansville's record continues to be poor.

So ... is it coaching, or is it talent? You watch them more than I do.

I see talent. I see coaches talking about Marty's coaching. And I see a 14-19 record. So either the talent isn't there or the coaching isn't there, because the record definitely is there. You can't have the talent, the coaching, and a 14-19 record.

Something has to be missing for Evansville to be this mediocre this far into Simmons' tenure with players of Balentine's and Mock's talent. Good coaching + good talent = Good results.

The problem has been recriuts Colt Ryan was Martys only great recruit his first 5 years, look up his recruits so I feel up till 2 years ago it was a talent issue now they have some still a player or 2 away, so I'm waiting till next year to make my final opinion if we have a coaching issue.

Isn't recruiting a part of being a college coach?

It's just weird to me how many Evansville fans have this mentality of "I need another year" to judge a guy that's been your coach for seven years. If you haven't made up your mind about a coach after seven years, you never will.

He's 102-122 in seven seasons. Two of those seasons over .500, three below it. Only once above .500 in conference play. Poor recruiting long-term. And so on.

You guys want him to be successful because he's an Evansville guy, but I don't see it.

Evansville has young talent at the top (Balentine, Mock, and maybe the freshman PG), but they lack depth. The two other starters (Simmons and Wing) should be the 2nd and 3rd men off the bench. Brown is passable as a back-up PG. Moore should be the 4th big. Basically, the Aces are missing a starting PF, SF, and back-up post. Not sold on the PG position, but it might be there. If the Nova transfer is good, they still need a 5th starter and 6th man to be competitive with the top three teams in the league. Hopefully Marty has these guys up his sleeve.

NO. See former Drake players. One the leading 3 point % shooter in the country. One leading scorer for his team in the Big Ten, and one starting at Minnesota.
