WSU vs. InSU For the Auto Bid

Postby Aargh » March 9th, 2014, 12:18 am

From what I'm seeing, the Shox are playing the best ball they've played all year.

There are two National PoY awards. Early is a finalist in one of them. VanVleet is a finalist in the other. Baker's ankle appears to be better and the 3-headed monster at the 5 is playing better than ever. In the last month or so, Cotton has become a monster on the offensive end of the court.

It is going to be difficult for the Trees to win this game, but I'm not so naive as to think that a W for the Shox is automatic. The attitude I'm seeing from the Shocker players indicates a W for the Trees is going to take something the Trees haven't shown so far, but that doesn't mean they don't have that game in them.

If the Shox can mange a W, they will become the only team other than UNLV 20+ years ago to go 34-0.

My heart is rooting for the Shockers.

My head is rooting for the Trees to pull the upset so we get two teams into the "dance."

Good luck to both teams!

It's gonna take the Sycamores best 3-pt effort of the season to pull off this upset. The Shox went to Cleanthony down low several times in TH and we could not stop him in the 2nd half. I think Marshall implies the same strategy and Lansing will be ready for it this time. I see a TON of 3-pt attempts in this one. I'll go as far to say, the team with more 3-pt shots made wins today. We can't score on them down low and our main defensive focus will be in the paint. It's not the typical kind of strategy you want against WSU, but it might be our only chance. Here's to a bad shooting day for the Shox!

Mark Adams made an interesting comment during the broadcast of yesterday's game saying that out off all the power conferences in division one basketball two of the greatest regular season winning streaks belong to the MVC. I thought that was pretty neat considering the Syc's get one more chance to try and upset the Shox in the Championship game!

I think what the Shox have done is nothing short of incredible. I can honestly say that I never thought they would make it through the entire conference schedule without at least one loss. They also seem to be playing their best ball right now.

It is really going to be a tough task for the Syc's to win this game...but I know they have it in them. I've seen the Syc's show some serious fight in them since the start of the MVC tourney and I haven't seen that in a while from this team. Hoping we can at least keep it close and make a game out of it on national television but maybe just maybe we can sneak out the upset. Go Sycamores!!!

The line opened at 14 and is now down to 12.5!?!? Is there any reason to this? Is Van Vleet, Baker, and Early planning on sitting out? Did they forget to set their alarm clocks to the time change? This seems really strange.

Shockers HEAVY favorites today, just want to see the Sycamores show up and give a good effort and have a shot to win. Need to play well, then parlay that into an NIT bid (if we lose of course), then play well in the NIT

Looks like the Maryland/UVA game is gonna run over and possibly go to OT. Is the MVC gonna get screwed on another CBS televised game?
