I really like Doug McDermott. He's an excellent player and I think he'll be successful in the NBA. But let's calm down on the comparisons to Larry Bird. Bird carried his team to the championship game. McDermott has been unable to carry his team to a Sweet 16. If he takes them to a title game this year, by all means, compare away.

Doug is no doubt an excellent player and prolific scorer. My question for the next level is, will he be more Larry Bird or Adam Morrison?

I'm not sure they're directly comparing him to bird. More of a small school guy story. I watched him last night in the big east tourney and he was so impressive. Even better than I remembered.

Small school? You better not tell Creighton fans that, now that they're a big BCS team and 5 star recruits are lining up to play for them!

The ripples of Doug leaving UNI for CU continue resonating throughout the MVC. UNI fans are desperately ready to turn the next chapter in our program and leave the Doug-less era behind.

I'm still of the opinion CU was a sinking ship prior to Doug's arrival. Without him, not only does CU stay in the Valley, but they continue their death spiral into mediocrity.

McDermott’s college BB career has been pretty amazing. He appears to be a humble young man who has handled his success with class. McDermott has been a credit to Creighton, the MVC and the Big East. What he does or doesn’t do in the pros will not change what he has already accomplished.

He may be a Kyle Korver, but he will not be a Tim Duncan.

In the NBA, his deep posts in the paint will not play. If he tries, he will be eating a lot of leather.

Given the above, can he be a competent perimeter player? Probably not. He absolutely will not put up a three ball, if he is guarded closely. His dribble drive skills are limited. There is no way he will play defense on the perimeter.

Disclosure: I once said that Tim Duncan would never make it in the NBA.

The answer to your question is either Adam Morrison or Jimmy X. I forgot his last name. The guy from BYU.

Somewhere in between those 2. I see him as a solid player that can do a variety of things at the next level. But not a star.

Adam Morrison was mentally fragile and was never going to live up.

Doug wants to be great and I think he'll have a better NBA career than a lot of people think.
