MVC football school has a damn good basketball team also, The Bison take down the OK Sooners in overtime.

Always impressed with their fan support. Seemed like the Fighting Bison contingent outnumbered the Sooner faithful in Spokane.

I don't think Sooner basketball faithful really exist.

I'm not sure if this is in jest and aimed to get the crazy NDState fan on here riled up or if it's just a backhanded dig at a team most on this forum wanted no part of in the Valley. Either way...it's a dumb statement. Obviously the football following is far greater, but anyone who thinks a BCS school doesn't have some type of basketball fan base is completely delusional. Anyone who thinks that wasn't a signature win for NDST moving forward is equally silly.

It wasn't an indictment of either of their basketball teams. No idea how you spun that statement against NDSt.?

But I stand by the statement. Take off the BCS goggles. OU hasn't put butts in the seats since Blake Griffin graduated. There is a difference between having a basketball fan base, and selling a few season tickets as part of a sports package with football.

Can we trade Loyola for them? Fooking Elgin and the Illinois Valley Conference!

Kinda know where you're coming from, with that comment.
I live in Florida. Even when The Gators won back to back NCAA Basketball Championships, few people down here noticed, because Spring Football news had already started appearing in the papers and on TV.
Always said Billy Donovan had the best secured job in college basketball. He could win the National Championship or go 15-18, for the season and no one would notice....or care.
Not saying there aren't basketball fans in Florida, but most follow The Heat, not The 'Noles, Gators, or even last year's FGCU's run.

On a side note...How 'bout Mercer!

I think you're overstating it. Florida has pretty decent basketball fan support. Good attendance, and the fans care. Now it doesn't hold a candle to football, but you're describing FSU way more than UF. FSU has terrible fan support.

Outside Gainesville, believe me, no one cares.
The ODome seats less than 13,000.
That's half the size of Rupp, almost 4,000 less than CenturyLink in Omaha and only little larger, than Koch.
They had a few sellouts this season.
Yes, Kansas, UK, FSU, UGA
But, even when The Gators are ranked in the top 10, you can walk up to the window and get a ticket for a home game, every year.
Walk into ANY sports bar, down here and shot, "GATORS"...and UF fans will think you're talking SEC Football.
But, what do I know?...I only live down here.

And I went to high school in Orlando and got my BA from Florida State. About a quarter of my family are life-long Florida fans. I get it, you live there. I also have a pretty good frame of reference.

I get your point, you're just overstating it. I'm not saying Florida has great fan support by any means, but 10,677 average attendance last year and 35th in the country is not "no one cares" territory. It's pretty mediocre considering Florida's level of success, but still ... averaging 10k plus every year since 2001 is nothing to sneeze at in the south. How many southern schools outside of Tobacco Road and (Kentucky/Louisville/Memphis if you want to include them) are close to that?
