Barnes
Shaw

Bell

Morgan

I think the plan is for Morgan/Taylor to play the 5. I don't think we want Shaw at the 5.

I think we could trot out some big frontcourts this year. There's a Sutherland/Thomas/Barnes or Cunningham/Shaw/Morgan lineup I'm already fantasizing over.

One of the more troubling things about this game was Omari Grier's post-game comments in this article when asked if he took this game for granted he replied:

"Of course. A lot of guys went into this game casual not really looking to execute. Clearly it showed they executed their plays over what we did and this was the outcome."

You are picked to finish 8th in the Valley this year. Where's the fire to prove everyone wrong? Why would the players be taking any game for granted when they haven't proven anything yet? I know it's just an exhibition but come on guys.

So don't get down on yourselves. You could still come back and be Drake over the last few years.

Well, the important thing is that Bradley is staying true to their plan:

“We’re aware of what our competitors are doing,” Bradley athletic director Michael Cross said. “But we have our own model. Staying true to our plan, year in and year out, is how we’re going to be successful. We can’t sit there and say we’ve got to be like Wichita. We’ve got to be more like Bradley and do the things that attract the kind of kids that allow us to be successful at Bradley.”

So I'd have to assume this is the Bradley plan. Obviously no major changes are needed.

WSU tips off against Rollie Massamino and NAIA Northwood in about 10 minutes.

Starters will be:

VanVleet
Baker
Cotton
Wessel
Carter

No other player at WSU has 1 minute of D-I action.

Per HCGM freshman Rauno Nurger will be the first big man off the bench and RS freshman Ri'an Holland will be the first guard (SG) off the bench.

Also looking for action will be JUCO bigs Tevin Glass and Tom "Bush" Wamukota, RS freshman big Shaq Morris and true freshman big Rashard Kelly. Freshman guards Corey Henderson and Zach Brown will also be available in the backcourt.

Baker is pretty much doing anything and everything he wants to do. Playing lots of point, hitting 3's, driving to the hoop, dribbling the clock down for the last shot of the half. Looks a lot better than he did last year.

Yeah, yeah, I know, it's just n exhibition game, but I think those elite camps he hit over the summer are paying off.

Drake won the exhibition game with Coe College 78-53.

Freshman Reed Timmer looked good at the point. Gary Ricks had 24 points.

Coe had some three point shooters and hung around the first half. Drake played better defense the second half.

WSU wins 112-55, while rarely playing more than one or two of the starting lineup on the court at a time.

Ri'an Holland was incredible.

112-55 was the final. While that in itself is not the highlight, it's that we played almost all newomers the 2nd half and actual extended the lead. We were all interested to see what we have coming into the program and I can tell you, the Valley is not gonna like it. WSU isn't letting up when Baker/VanVleet graduate. Can you say Holland/Henderson? These guys can ball.
