Seriously though, every team would like that sort of atmosphere. Its just sort of sad that good sporting events across he United States have forced the average family out of the equation. I know my view is different from many here but I have never understood the need or want to donate to your alma mater. If I was worth 100 million, I wouldn't give mine a dime. They already got my money when I went there.

I agree with this 100% - including the opening joke. The joke is funny because it's something so incredibly obvious that people don't see it until it's pointed out to them.

Good points past the joke as well. I don't want to disparage anyone for spending that kind of money, because they might be the biggest WSU fans ever, but I doubt they're going to be standing and yelling and making a lot of noise, which is the atmosphere that has made WSU a tough place to play.
Glad you could see that I was just making a joke.

I agree, spend your money however you want and don't feel bad about it. I also don't fault WSU for taking advantage of their current situation as well as having fans that are able to spend like this. I just know that even though I did not go to SIU, the reason I am a fan is because my parents had season tickets and I grew up with Saluki basketball, not just on TV or as a headline/highlight. If there were fees like this my parents would never have spent the money and Saluki basketball wouldn't mean the same to me. I grew up going to SIU basketball games and to Cardinal baseball games they both hooked me for life because of this. I wonder how many young fans teams are missing out on now because the average family can't afford to take their kids?

In most ways I would give almost anything for MSU to be where WSU is in terms of money, fan support, and on court success. Being priced out of tickets and/or not being able to obtain tickets would certainly be a negative aspect of that level of success though. That would suck for Joe average fan.

But I would still trade situations with Wichita in a heartbeat. Success has a price I guess.

It does. Especially when you're trying to compete at the highest level without a TV contract that pays you a dime.

I don't think people are being horribly priced out of WSU's seats. Season tickets at the top of the arena are still affordable for an average family income. Individual tickets aren't terribly priced. There's tickets on StubHub for the opening game for $70 ;)

Obviously tickets have gone beyond the point of just being able to stroll in for $10 like a lot of teams in the MVC enjoy, but that's generally the way sports work. MLB tickets are a lot more than AA tickets >=)
