Loyola gets Boise State, who squeaked by Houston 75-73.

Big day for Loyola. If you don't count @Michigan St (and I don't, given how tough a win that would be)....this is really the first big game on their schedule against a legitimate opponent. We'll know if Loyola is a legit contender for 3rd or just a mid-table team buoyed by the non-con SoS today.

In other news, jeez, Wichita dodging Nebraska. This is absolutely a conspiracy against Wichita at this point. I'm actually mad for them. At least both Colorado and GWU won on the other side.

Yea, it's been one of those murphy's law kind of years for our OOC SoS. Just bizarre. Memphis and NMSU are still projected to climb substantially in conference play but otherwise Seton Hall (maybe Alabama, pending UCLA game outcome) is pretty much the lone upside surprise.

I do think Loyola has proven to be a legit contender for 3rd regardless of tonight's outcome. I'd probably peg them 5th if money were on the line, but their resume can easily be lumped in with ISUr and UE at this point. All have a weird home loss or two, but there is a big gap b/t that group and the wile e. coyote drop off to Missouri State.

I would agree that it is a big day for Loyola to be able to add a high quality win to their resume, but I think the win yesterday was more important because it gave them this game, win or lose, gave them a win against a BigXII team that will help the conference, and avoided adding a Houston team that would be a major drag on things, even if they will rise some in AAC play.

They aren't going to be in 'at-large' territory, but they have done exactly what the Valley needs teams that are building/re-building to do. Win the games they should and avoid the absolute horrible losses. Even with a loss today, they will only have losses at Michigan State, neutral vs Boise State, and a home one to a Tulane team with only 2 non-conference losses.

Some people didn't care for the Loyola schedule too much before the season, but they have come out and won the games. Looking forward to them having momentum into conference and helping create separation between the top and bottom this year.

there is a HUGE separation between the top 6 and bottom 4 of the MVC this year. The top 6 should not lose ANY games to the bottom 4 teams (Bradley, INS, Drake, SIU). Although I could see SIU winning a game or two against the top 6. The only games the bottom 4 should win are games against each other. That's how wide the gap is in my opinion.

MSU is a heckuva lot closer to the Thursday night crew than the top 5 right now. I wouldn't count on them sweeping 4 road games against the dregs.

Yep! I see a 5/5 split.

I wasn't sure what to do with MSU yet, at times they look ok, other times, not so great. So yeah, they're probably closer to the Thursday Four than they are the Friday Five. Right now I'd say MSU and SIU will battle it out for 6th place in the MVC.

Drake, Bradley, and Indiana State will be playing on Thursday for sure, there is no doubt about that. I've seen Indiana State play enough this season to know we're only gonna win 2-3 MVC games. Just very discouraging to fall from 2nd place all the way to a probable 9th-10th place finish, but we have no shooters, can't play defense, and can't hit FT's. We've fallen off the proverbial cliff
