Good- I hope you guys find someone who can fill it up soon. I went to a late 90s game at Roberts (Marcus Wilson's senior year IIRC) and man was that a fun atmosphere.

I was there from fall of 91 to spring of 95, average attendance was over 11,000 for the 4 years.
The ACES ACES chant with nearly 12,000 was something to witness.

It was a real home court advantage.

UE grad and Ace 75 same poster.

Remove Simmons if you want to go back 5 years. Wait for next year, ground hog day syndrome. 4 Losses!

10 points make UE undefeated. Team meeting today! What happens on the road trip?? UE 13-5 conference.

Ignore the troll

Sounds like a "Marty is the answer's Answer," but if not , "so what?" response with overlapping echoes of wretchitations.

Don't mind the mole.

No, he has a valid enough point. The program was an absolute train wreck when Simmons took over for Merfeld. It was a place no self-respecting recruit would want to go, and considered the butt of every joke in Evansville.

Now, UE is recruiting at an at least competitive level in the MVC l, and there is more support in the general public than there ever was before he took over.

UE is still not an attractive place for prospective coaches, and I can't imagine we could pay very well. So if we fired Marty, our choices would likely be D2 coaches or coaches from progeria worse than ours. That's not an attractive option to me, especially when it finally seems like we're becoming a winning program. Not dominant or amazing, but around 100 in the RPIs and making postseason tourneys, albeit little ones. That's worlds better than before.

Letting Marty go could mean restarting the rebuilding process

Your comparison has no validity. There was no CIT or CBI before Marty so he would not have any post season play under the same circumstances. Also, the MVC was much better before Marty's tenure. I'm not sure the cupboard was as bare as many on here claim, Shy Ely was better than anyone Marty has brought in except for maybe Mock. Marty really doesn't know how to use Mock so I would still go with Shy.

Excuse me? Exactly what did I post to warrant the "troll" comment? Also I am not "Ace 75" too.

We are already in the ground hog day loop - it has been the same for the last 7 years that we've had season tickets.

Yes, the talent on the team has consistently improved & I feel is at an all time high.
No, the practice of seemingly forgetting there are players on the bench that have and CAN contribute has not changed. I'm sick and tired of watching someone on the bench come in and give great minutes in the first half, only to see the pine or token time in the second (most recently Benzon in the InSt game). Then there is Howard who hasn't seen the floor in the last month.
No, Marty never creates a miss-match issue for the other team, he always reacts to the other team's line-up (why not 2 bigs against Loyola? 2 bigs when Tuttle went out against UNI)
Yes, he finally has played some zone, but it is the wrong zone - you don't play 2-3 against a 3 point shooting team with 0 height - you play 3-2 and own the paint with your big.

I would love to be a coach in-league against a Marty team. You don't have to prepare for the scheme - your notes from 2008-09 will work. Only the players have changed. On offense the lane will be clogged due to no spacing, on defense the post & driver will be helped and someone will be open on a wing.

Sometimes a change is needed to spark a fan base and team. I say now is the time.

Also, with DJ being a senior next year, I haven't seen Marty sign the next guy to step into the feature role - He's had one every year - Shy Ely -> Colt Ryan -> DJ. with an overlapping senior/freshmen season.

Marty really is one of the most interesting coaches to watch from a "birds eye view" with how he handles the program and splits the fans.

Almost no one outside of UE is impressed with his system or his results, but most UE fans love his style and his win totals...while at the same time completely infuriating another portion of it.

I've not seen this much outrage, and love at the same time, about a coach with a 10 win OOC and 11 wins by Jan 1st of a season since...well..maybe ever.

Reminds me of Hinson at MSU.
