Yep, fans get free pizza if you score 75.

Drake can make a lot of teams look good.

I think I see improvement in the Jays but the last 5 games haven't really been against top notch competition. Both Drake and ISUr were picked in the bottom half of the league. Tuesday night will be a real test against the Bears.

You're biased for sure...Tuesday may be a bit of a wake up call. Lots of missed open jumpers by the Drake...not sure MSU will miss like Drake. I don't have as good of a feeling going into Tuesday as most CU fans that's for sure. One things for sure, CU will need to repeat their rebounding performance of yesterday...that was the most impressive thing about yesterday. They didn't give up too many offensive boards...

Why is Drake such a poor rebounding team? Creighton is not exactly known as a strong rebounding team (they will get better with GMac as their coach) but to get beat by 21 on the boards?

It can't be that poor an effort, I refuse to believe that. Maybe if GE played 20 minutes and had 15 boards I'd more easily understand it, but what's the deal? Are they looking to run at every opportunity and just hope the ball comes to them?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Drake was a pretty good shooting team coming in, at least from behind the arc. I'd like to think our defense had something to do with their poor shooting. I actually expected Drake to make a lot more three pointers.

To me, Tuesday will be a game determined by who controls the tempo. MSU likes to run and gun; we like to plod along. Three things I know we will need for Tuesday: 1) a much better performance by Echenique; 2) a repeat performance by Lawson; and 3) the ability to stop Ricks from getting easy layups. It would be nice if we could avoid another slow start as well.

They are pretty short and not very physical.

You are wrong about Creighton though - we have been a pretty good rebounding squad this year, especially when Gregory Echenique and Doug McDermott are on the floor. The fact that we could do that without Echenique on the floor was impressive but probably has more to do with Drake's lack of size than anything else.

Drake has always been a horrible rebounding team under Phelps. No idea why. Drake had much shorter teams under Dr Tom that routinely outrebounded opponents. Poor fundamentals on blocking out, I guess. And, Phelps rarely lets anybody go to the offensive glass.

A little bit of vodka in the Kool Aide in the drink?

That said, Creighton is a much better team than when the season began and Drake looked undersized and slower than Creighton, they were outmatched man for man. Drake is hardly a team to set a benchmark.

As for the Bluejay's recent success, Greg Eschenique (sp?) has had a lot to do with it, but he wasn't on the floor against Drake. The team is getting better every game and the rebounding has been one part of it. Scoring, on the other hand, is still a problem with the Bluejays. They have started slowly in almost every game and they have long droughts with no points. They opened the Drake game the same way. Young has grown into a very good point guard, GE is the real deal and Doug McDermott is much better than I thought he would be. That said, Creighton needs more shooters that score. If Kaleb Korver begins to shoot the ball with confidence, by the end of the season, Creighton could become very, very dangerous. Right now they are a decent team that is improving day to day.
