Well WSU would have to loss another one for the tiebreaker to matter. Otherwise UNI would have at least 1 more conference loss.

And even if WSU lose another so that both teams finish 16-2 they still hold the tie-breaker with non-conference strength of schedule.

Great game UNI. They were by far the better team today and Jake was by far the better coach. No, the torch isn't passed by the result of one game. When UNI goes a season and a half without losing, or is in first place consistently for a couple of years or more, then let's talk. I love UNI's team, and I always have (except for the lame coaching of the flop method of defense). Keep winning Panthers!!!

Don't go off on the 'flopping' claim until you look at your own team trying it a few times today.

Let's hope they both run the table til the showdown at Koch. Makes for an exciting finale on national TV. It's a lot more fun to have a challenger in the league. If I could just hate UNI like I did creighton. Could you UNI fans start acting like snobbish elitist d-bags? Maybe sign a P'allen instead of all these classy players! I mean ISU red is hateable but they stink.

Surprises and non surprises from me:

I am surprised by the margin of victory and the fact that UNI was able to put up 70 on the Shockers.

I am not surprised that UNI held the Shockers in the 50's, just expected UNI to be there or low 60's as well.

I am not surprised that UNI shot the ball well (maybe 60% is unexpected, but they can and do shoot well).

I was surprised that Cotton was getting beaten off the dribble by Washpun and Mitchell as much as he was.

I was surprised that Marshall did not have a better plan for stopping Tuttle inside, though Seth was playing possessed.

I am not surprised that when both teams had to dip into their benches, that UNI's kept the intensity level up and provided more help.

Looking forward to the return match. Hope both teams keep winning and stay healthy.

I'm a bit shell shocked by the result. I expected a ceiling of UNI victory of 6 points. More than I imagined.

Tuttle was incredibly aggressive down low. He was generally playing to what the refs would allow. That's great if it done by your player, hair pulling frustration if it is player on the other team. Morgan (#20) was a difference maker in this game on Baker. I think he was able to get into Baker's head early - Baker looked like he was forcing the issue most of the evening.

You'd never guess that this is the sentiment among from Shox fans if you traveled over to Shockernet. I'm glad most of the posters who show up here and on PN are reasonable people. How do some of you survive over there?

I know that UNI used to have a reputation under McDermott for "clutch and grab" type stuff but since when is taking charges and using your body and strength "dirty"? I've never heard of Tuttle being a "dirty" player until this season and after watching my fair share of Iowa State and Big XII games this year I still have no idea what he does that isn't widely utilized by big men all over the country. I guess I'm just legitimately confused by what it is the crazies see that makes UNI so much different and dirtier than the rest of the MVC or D-I for that matter. I'm hoping I can just chalk it up to frustration and needing something to blame the Shox's vulnerability on? I know that feeling well as a UNI fan.

I have no idea what those people are talking about -- although I do think there are only a few of them, they just post a ton. I do think Tuttle utilized the hell out of the hook to get past people, but by no means do I think that's dirty. The refs allowed it and he utilized it. That's smart basketball.

UNI's always flopped a bit, but there is nothing dirty about that team at all.

There's a lot of frustration obviously, but generally UNI is the most respected MVC team by WSU fans by miles.

Looking back over that box score, the thing that really stands out to me, beyond UNI's crazy high shooting percentage: Carter and Shaq combining for 30 minutes and 8 personal fouls.

It's a shame Carter hasn't gotten better/smarter on the defensive end as a senior. Those two just can't stay in the game long enough to be effective.

Get a clue about your reputation for flopping. Unless you have been under a rock for a few years it's universally known UNI flops. It's the only thing about UNI I don't like. Classy coach, players and fan base. But stop drinking the kool-aid in relation to the flop argument.
