This is a serious question and not meant to be insulting. Is Evansville a step-up from OVC/Sun Belt/MAC/etc. type schools or is the best coach they can hope for assistants or D2 coaches?

I think an MVC school should go after Jay Spoonhour who is over at Eastern Illinois ASAP. He has got to be making pennies and he managed to turn a perennial 300 RPI school into a winner in 3 years. The obvious fit is SWOMO but Lusk probably isn't going anywhere.

The chance to coach against WSU and UNI on TV is probably the biggest selling point for Evansville's program. Beyond that, I doubt they pay much more than schools in those conferences.

Hello Thursday, we're the ACES.

Another Marty gem. Running a team out of the gym in the first 10 minutes by playing free and up tempo, good ball movement and energy to DJ ball in the second half.

If today didn't seal his termination, then I am done as a season ticket holder.

Of course if you take a poll of the MVC coaches, 10 out of 10 would love to see him return. Nothing like using your scouting report from 2006.

And just why do all the other conference coaches support a coach who is in danger of losing his job? At least one maybe two sure wins each year as long as he stays I would think. :Violin:

Yes, I would let Marty finish the season.......if he was coaching the Bears in place of Lusk.......and had to leave before next year......and Lusk couldn't return.

No reason to fire him during the season.

Having said that, I would have already begun my coaching search, and my Valley Tournament post-game press notice would already be drafted.

But, I don't think UE pulls the trigger. They also still have 2 shots at a Top 20 win that would probably make it easier for them to justify keeping hime.

You have basically all of your roster back next year. Why would you fire Marty after the season? If he struggles next season with everyone back then fine. But not now. That would be ridiculous.

FIRE Marty and the fans will return. When we hired him I told everyone it would be hard to fire him. Yes he was a great player actually one of the best in the country. He cannot coach. The Evansville fans have hated his offense ever since he has been here. We need a new coach next year and one that doesn't run a flicking motion offense.
