Game Day Feb 28th ?

Postby GarH » February 13th, 2015, 4:47 pm

I felt certain it would be at the UA/UTAH game, but now that it was announced Game Day the week before would be at UA/UCLA, it is highly unlikely the PAC would get it two weeks in a row. If the Shockers and Panthers win out till then, there biggest competition would be KU/Texas. If both teams can win out, they now have a legitimate shot at Game Day. That would be fantastic for the Valley.

It's possible they could choose to go to a 28-1 Gonzaga, but you're probably right, they won't double up on the Pac-12 if they can't help it. And this year, they can.

There is very little flexibility regarding GameDay and Gonzaga was not one of the pre-season flex sites.

They weren't? Wow, that surprises me.

Well, as long as Illinois St doesn't screw this up, we're good!

Game is going to be at 1pm on ESPN. Doesn't look good for Gameday as they haven't been at a site where they have a game that starts before 6pm. Utah vs Arizona are playing at 8pm that night on ESPN.

Last early tip to host was January of 2014 (Temple, co-host). Have to go back to March 2013 to find an early tip that hosted solo (Georgetown, 11 AM CST tip).

Not quite impossible but definitely a longshot now.

There's also an 11:00 AM game that leads into this one. No chance at Gameday, IMO...

While I agree it is unlikely. Someone posted this on shockernet. Does make it interesting. Although it will probably end up at KU game..ugh.

I don't see this going down nearly the way any of you do. To me, the possibility of Gameday is VERY real based off what I am reading.

This is the way it shapes up on Feb. 28 on ESPN:
10 a.m. - College Gameday
11 a.m. - Louisville @ Florida State
1 p.m. - UNI @ Wichita State
3 p.m. - College Gameday
4 p.m. - Texas @ Kansas
6 p.m. - Syracuse @ Duke
8 p.m. - Arizona @ Utah

When the times were announced, I thought it was weird there was no hour break to have the Gameday lead in show at its normal time before the primetime game. If you look at the schedule, there is no place for it Feb. 28. Looking at the ESPN TV schedule (on their app), the 'evening version' of Gameday if you will, is scheduled to happen right after our game with UNI. To me, that means one of two things. Either Gameday is coming here, or its going to Lawrence. Or....

I guess it wouldn't be surprising if they were planning to split the sites with that set up (bolt Rece and gang from Wichita and have 'em in Lawrence by 3), and started here and did the later show in Lawrence. But those of you saying its not going to happen because we aren't the primetime game, there is no space for a primetime Gameday so I wouldn't eliminate us just yet. Let the 'conspiracy' theories begin, but this isn't setting up to be a 'normal' Saturday for ESPN.

Texas at Kansas is literally the 4th best option of the 4 games. Even Syracuse/Duke has more relevance nationally. Heck, an audible to go to Gonzaga would be better. That would be one of the most incredibly stupid decisions in Gameday history, and the MVC (and Utah for that matter) should riot.
