It's not like we just grabbed Indiana, Kentucky or Kansas.

No chance at Kansas or Indiana, they would never be able to travel to Terre Haute or Wichita.

And do you realize WHY that is?????

Let me clue you in on it..... it's because Loyola doesn't have a road game with an attendance of 1200 at Loyola dragging down the average.

You can defend arguments being made against joining the league all day, that's fine, but trying to spin the attendance numbers is never going to work out in your favor.

I was at the ISU/Loyola game and we had half of the fans there and I believe the attendance was under 4k. For such a small venue right on campus it's pretty sad, I thought ISU had attendance issues (which we do) but even on the worst attended games we get over 4k...

We have had some real good success recently and unfortunately, a large portion of our posting fan base comes from this internet/message board era when we have been good. But there was a time before that. A time when we could pack literally hundreds of people in the UNI-Dome to watch our beloved Panthers valiantly fight to .500 records in good years. Hell, we can't even pack the McLeod consistently now.

And some of the UNI fans want to look down on others in the conference? Seriously? I hope they don't get upset when Iowa or Iowa State look down on UNI using many of the same arguments on us as these fans are using on other schools.

The world revolves and so does college basketball. We certainly hope we have stability with Coach Jake, but only have to look at SIU, or Creighton, or Bradley, to know nothing is given.

Good to see there are still some logical UNI fans on this board. Every fanbase has a couple of posters on here that struggle to not be general d-bags, but it seems the UNI ones have really blown up this year.

I really like Jake, and the team in general. You guys are having a great season, and I really hope it goes deep into March.

But to see some of your fellow fans slamming Loyola for attendance is comical. IMO, UNI is about the 3rd worst team in the conference in attendance. You have a top 20 team, the best season in your history, and still can't average 5K. That seems pretty poor. It is what it is, but to make fun of other schools for this seems pretty hypocritical.

IMO, this is what the rest of the Valley would be drawing with a Top 20 ranking, and the season you are having. I will leave Wichita out because we know what they are doing with it.

9K+ Bradley, Evansville and probably MSU
8K+ Illinois State
7K+ SIU, Indiana State

That's a pretty big gap with 7 of the Valley schools to where you are currently at.

Again, I hope UNI goes very deep into March, and will be pulling for you all the way. But a 6 page thread of your posters making fun of another school for attendance is again, quite comical.

I don't get giving a hard time to Loyola about attendance at all. It makes no sense why any UNI poster would do this. However, UNI is averaging just about 5000 people per home game this year. It does seem low considering we are in the Top 15 and 25-2 I will admit.

You claim what certain schools would be getting in this position. Well there is no guarantee, but let's take a look at this for a second.

At 9K attendance MSU would be 81% capacity, Bradley would be 78%, and Evansville would be at 90%
At 8K attendance ISUr would be at 78%
At 7K attendance SIU would be at 83%, and ISUb would be at 68%

Currently, UNI is right at 5K which puts them at 71% capacity. That isn't terrible compared to the others you listed. We will never average 7K simply because our arena only holds 7002, and we are never going to sellout every game.

We have averaged 6502 in the last 4 which is really when the hype train started rolling. That is 92% capacity. We have averaged 5710 in conference home games which is 81% capacity. To me that sounds right on line with everyone you mentioned above.

McLeod Center capacity is 6650.

Reduced after suites were added on west side. We're trending much closer to 100%. Wichita was 106% of capacity. Bradley will be the same tomorrow and I would expect Evansville will approach that, although you're already hearing grumblings from people upset that its an 8:00 tip because their kids are going to melt if they have to stay up an hour late...

Well then even better we are 75% of capacity for the season.

We are 97.7% in the last 4 and 85% in conference.

So way better than I had thought earlier, and proves the point of my last post even better that we are right in line of where everyone else (Wichita aside) in the conference "would" be if they were in our position.

Except that you aren't using raw attendance numbers. 98% of a small number is still a small number.

Are you suggesting we go back to the Dome?

Nope. Just suggesting that attendance contests are probably not ones UNI fans should be thumping their chests about. That's all.
