Muller hasn't impressed me at all with his game coaching.

At UNI, the Redbirds were down 17 at half and came back out after half-time with 5 minutes remaining to shoot around. That means one a few things happened:

1) Muller was able to make fantastic adjustments in a short time and got his team back on the floor as soon as possible.
2) Muller believed his gameplan was working and they just needed to get back out and keep working it.
or
3) He had no freaking clue what to do so just told the team to go out 'ball it up.'

I know which one I suspect it was, I will let you make your own conclusions, though.

In defense of Muller, the defensive game plan against UNI isn't complex. Tuttle is the best frontcourt player on the floor. If you have a guy to cover him 1-on-1, you're in pretty good shape. If you don't, you're screwed. We tried sagging. He hit threes. We tried playing him tighter. He drove past. We tried doubling in the post. He found the open man. Zone doesn't work either; too many shooters.

I always think back to a postgame interview with Gregg Marshall in 2009. Osiris finished with 26 points and 5 assists. They asked Gregg if he tried different things to slow down Eldridge. He said something like, "Of course we did. He was the best player on the court. When he plays like that, you just gotta wait for the game to end, because you're not winning."

Who has the ability to cover Tuttle when he's on? Mock? I know Reggie can't. He doesn't move well enough. Darius Carter moves well enough, but Tuttle has him by 2 inches.

I would have Darius and Shaq could cover him, but I believe he had a career night against WSU.
