Sycamores vs. #1 Vanderbilt

Postby isumvc1 » February 18th, 2015, 11:37 am

Indiana State had their series at Elon canceled for this weekend, so now they travel to Florida to face #1 Vanderbilt in a 3 game weekend series. Illinois State also has a 3 game series scheduled vs. Vanderbilt. Be interesting to see how this goes.

ISU went 2-1 in their opening weekend of games

2-2 top 8, Sycamores with men on, no outs,

would be a nice RPI win for the MVC if we can pull this win off

Vandy scores in bottom of 9th to def. ISU 3-2.

Hannah's blew an opportunity to break the 2-2 tie in the top of the 9th. With the squad's #1 base runner, speedster CF LANDON CURRY on 3B, bases loaded w/ only 1 out...could've easily squeezed Curry across the plate. Much like LAST SEASON...high game LOB's and failure to capitalize when in scoring position!

Also question replacing RHP McKinney who was breezing thru 3.1 innings, instead opting for LHP reliefer, Keaffaber, who took the loss. Leave well enough alone next time. This could've been a wonderful win for ISU.

ISU starter Stagg is clearly out of shape & having difficulty w/ control w/ 5 walks today. It's early...he needs to be runnng sprints and getting those hams conditioned. He's got a couple more days in Florida to get started on this. :Bam:

Game 2 INS vs. #1 Vanderbilt in Florida. In the 8th, ISU leads 8-1. Sure wish we could have won that game last night. Need to hang on to win today, then try to win the series Sunday.

Good to see ISU come back hungry and slam the 'Dores shut on Game #2. LHP Delgano coming back strong after surgery/RS in '14...the way you like rehab!

I agree re: Game 1...It would've been great to had scored a run in the top of the 9th (w/ bases loaded & one out) and have Keaffaber & team going for the juggler in Vandy's last at-bat. Tomorrow's the "meat & potatoes" of the series. :+1: :+1:

Still a really impressive showing by ISU even with the loss. Keep it going. Too bad to hear that Stagg was out of shape. He played with my brother in high school. Nice kid and someone I generally believed to be a hard worker. It's early though
[Insert snappy comeback]

ISU down 6-0 in the 8th of game 3, so likely will lose the series here, good series to be able to play though, should be a good season hopefully.
