UNI fans aren't too worried about him. The A&M job is the only time we've heard of him throwing his name out there. That was several years ago and we've made sure to do everything possible to keep him, his family and the team comfortable since then: pay raises for assistants, facility upgrades, chartered flights for nearly every game.

Jake has also mentioned he isn't keen on just up and moving his family. They've been members of the community for a long time and their oldest boy is in 5th grade. They are also currently building a new home so I'd say it's likely he will be around for awhile. He puts a big emphasis on family and I don't think he'll be looking to move too far away from the Midwest. As we've normally speculated, Minnesota and Wisconsin are the only programs that really "scare" us.

I think the biggest question I have about UNI is how secure is Jacobson? Any type of NCAA run, and Jacobson will get eyeballs from a host of BCS schools. I know his salary has been increased, and the AD is currently working on further enhancements, but the Valley has a very long list of coaches who have bolted to so called greener pastures once they get a little success. I think you might have to go back to Crews and Molinari to find a Valley coach not named Greg Marshall, that actually stayed after a little success...and UNI doesn't have Marshall money to throw at him.

Stallings, Weber, Alford, Martin, Altman, Davis, Painter, Turgeon quickly come to mind as bolters in the last 15 years. Even McDermott was lost to freaking Creighton. What makes UNI fans think Jacobson is different?

I hope he stays. Unlike Muller, he is a class act as well as successful. He is good for the Valley.

Lol! Absolutely love that you included "unlike, Muller."

Evansville gonna Evansville.

There's a one day old three page thread on the Redbird board about how Jacobson isn't a DBag like Marshall. I think one thing we can agree on is that Jacobson is a good coach and a good guy.

Jones will be harder to replace than Hunter. Hunter and Wills have been riding the end of the bench these past 2 weeks. We've gone 4-0 in that span.

There's a good amount of Redbird fans that think Marshall is dirt because he owns their asses and believes their coach is revered by every other fanbase outside of WSU's.

Looks like the rainbows in Normalland aren't quite as perfect after all.

I really doubt that. Every fan base has crazies, stop lumping them all together and please stop trying to stir the pot even further. You aren't helping things.

You don't venture onto the Redbird board a lot, do you? Those are not crazies. Those are what a large majority of the fanbase thinks.

I'm not stirring up things. I'm stating actual facts. There wouldn't be anything to stir if something didn't need stirred in the first place.

2 incidents that led Redbird fans to dislike Marshall:

1: Gregg was salty after the upset in St. Louis 4 years ago. He didn't follow the correct press conference procedure after the game. He also wasn't very gracious in defeat. Remember that that all took place under Jank. Before that moment, Redbird fans and Shocker fans got along pretty well.

2: The Kung Fu Carmichael game was followed up with a post-game altercation between Marshall and Muller regarding, many assume, Dana Ford. I don't know the details. I wasn't there. Neither was anyone on this board. It very well could have been Muller and Co. who instigated. Obviously there were some hurt feelings there.

If you want to sequence the events:
1. Wilkins/Stutz squabble led to Redbird upset
2. Upset led to salty Gregg Marshall
Jank leaves = Muller enters
3. Muller hired away Dana Ford.
4. Post-game dust up following Kung Fu kick.
5. Teddy Hawkins signed with Illinois State
-Never understood the animosity since Gregg cut him loose long before he considered the Birds.

So, yeah, I'm saying there's plenty of blame to go around. Right now, the Shockers own the Redbirds, and thus own the internet feud. We all got along just fine before the above sequence of events. Wichita has also gone on to win the last 7 since the upset in St. Louis.

I have no issue with Wichita fans. I've met plenty of good ones in St. Louis over the years. I enjoy seeing Gregg lose, but that's about the extent of it for me. Safe travels to all making the trip this weekend.

Well yeah, don't you know that even on an Evansville vs ISU thread (which had absolutely nothing to do with Marshall) that Wichita State fans need to claim territory?

1. Wilkins/Stutz squabble led to Redbird upset
"Squabble"? Wilkins kneed Stutz in the nuts - twice - and dropped Stutz to his knees, requiring an official timeout for an injured player.

2. Upset led to salty Gregg Marshall
Actually, the dirty play led to a salty Gregg Marshall. I wouldn't want a coach who wasn't salty after seeing one of his players dropped to the floor by a shot to the nuts. Nice try at blaming the victim, when it was Wilkins dirty play that cause the entire incident.

3. Muller hired away Dana Ford. So, 'Birds fans don't like Marshall because Muller hired Ford away from WSU. That might be a legitimate reason for WSU fans to dislike Muller, not the other way around.

4. Post-game dust up following Kung Fu kick. While we will never know what actually happened, what we do know is that the confrontation occurred outside the visitors locker room. That was reported by Illinois State campus security. I don't know the relative layout of the 2 locker rooms, but the appearance is that the WSU staff was heading to their locker room, while the Illinois State staff was following the WSU staff to WSU's locker room.

It really looks like Illinois State fans don't like Marshall because Illinois State players play dirty, and Illinois State's staff follows the Shox to their dressing room and a confrontation occurs.
