I wonder what Marty will think when he watches the replay and hears the announcers criticizing Blake for taking shots with Mock wide open in the paint. Probably, "the players didn't execute my gameplan". Oh, wait...

Will be interesting to see if UE can get back in this now. Shox fans have a preference of opponent?

I don't. Both teams present certain problems. Both teams have weaknesses.

But I also generally go with the "be careful what you wish for" mantra at this point in the season and just let things play out while rooting for close games and overtimes.

The UE ISUr game is a good one. I really think both of these teams have more talent than their record(s) indicate. Most Valley schools would give almost anything to have a post player of Mock or Lynch's caliber.

From what's being said, next year, Evansville may be wishing they had a player of Mock's calibre as well.

After sitting through Thursday night games the last few years, and the monstrosity that was last night, I'm beginning to lean towards an 8-team format that forgoes Thursday night. At the very least we need to get those games take off TV. Just embarrassing for the league.

An 8 team format is probably not going to happen. If fans are willing to drive to STL and pay money to see their team, they should get that chance, however bad their team is. People have to book rooms in advance, so in an 8 team format where your team is a 7-10 team, people simply won't plan the trip if their school isn't guaranteed to play at least one game. The Valley, the venue and the host city lose revenue. It gets exposure for the Valley and for the schools. A 7-10 seed is like playing the Powerball. You're probably going to waste a couple bucks, but there's still a chance.

What kind of attendance are the 9/10 seeds really bringing?

Definitely not the kind of game I was hoping to see from WSU the first game out. Out-rebounded and FVV plays 35 minutes. I was hoping for an easy win with no one playing longer than 25 minutes. Not good given our lack of depth against a team like UNI in the finals.

I would have much preferred UNI's spot in this tourney, if we could have had it without losing the conference title. I'd much rather play Bradley/ISUb than SIU/IlSt.

By the looks of things UNI won't be getting ISUb. They need a miracle to beat the fighting Doyle's
[Insert snappy comeback]

Just what in the he!! did Marty say at halftime? At least it wasn't a 10pt lead turned into a loss.

At least the correct 5 were on the floor at the end of the game, unfortunately the game plan SUCKED.

Bradley's attendance was higher than expected given where they finished. Let's assume just 250 fans buy all session passes and maybe a quarter of them stay the remainder of the weekend. So 63 fans. I think that's pretty conservative. Hotel for 3 nights = $300-600. Meals, parking, entertainment, another $200-$500 easy. So probably on the low-end somewhere around $30k/team in revenue and on the high end somewhere around $70k/team, times two equals somewhere between $60k and $140k in additional revenue.

Plus, the play-in game is a huge advantage for teams 1 & 2, so getting that 1 or 2 seed means more in a 10 team tournament than it would in an 8 team. You get to play a team that finished their last game less than 18 hours ago.

I don't think that revenue (spread out over numerous establishments) is enough to register a blip on the radar as far as the two games go.

The play-in game point is definitely important, though.
