That'll be interesting to see. I really doubt UNI is capable of paying Jacobson more than a million.

I just don't see where it would come from with UNI's poor attendance.

Not to mention they have cut sports due to budget problems.

Title IX + budget. And that was a long time ago. Long before the new funding model was put in place by the Iowa Board of Regents which will give millions more to UNI due to their 90% in-state enrollment. I'm not going to tell anyone that UNI is magically out of the storm and self-sufficient but I don't think they are in anything nearly as dramatic or worrisome as some would've had you believe in the last few years
[Insert snappy comeback]

Good to hear. Haven't heard anything positive or negative coming out in that regards. Hopefully no Valley schools have major budget concerns...especially those in Illinois dealing with the state.

If WSU didn't have Fred and Ron back, and ISUr didn't have Muller I would pick ISUr to win the conference next year. As it stands WSU will be the favorite, but I think ISUr might be picked 2nd.

3rd.

Way too early preseason poll-
1-WSU
2-UNI
3-ILSU
4-LUC
5-SIU
6-DU
7-INSU
8-UE (assuming the Lithuanian leaves)
9-MSU
10-BU

I like your top four.

I have no idea on the other six except Drake. I believe Drake will ascend, but I do not know how much.

I realize the UNI is losing some key players, but I kinda think they might pass WSU. As it stands now, WSU does not have a solution for the post defense problem and a couple other significant problems.

About your Lith observation, if the player is who I think it is, he should be playing linebacker for the Aces football team.

I would be stunned if UNI can outlast WSU next year. I respect your opinion, but I think you're being irrational in the face of a loss.

Next year UNI loses three of their top four scorers, including the POY, and by FAR their best player. They also lose four of their six players that averaged over 18.2 minutes/game. In other words, they're losing 46% of their minutes and 53% of their points. From a team that finished second in the conference. And they won't have a single player over 6'6" as an upper classman. Their post players will be sophomores, the same as Shaq.

Meanwhile, WSU, the team that finished first in the conference, will lose just 24% of our minutes from this year and 28% of our points. Not to mention that we're bringing in the two best rated recruits in the conference as true freshmen that should contribute immediately, and the theoretical contributions CF could make in the conference schedule.

Anything's possible ... FVV could get injured game one and we could never recover. But predicting UNI over us next year would be crazy talk. UNI loses a ton and they're far more likely to fall behind Illinois State next year. Now granted ... if Baker leaves early, everything changes.

IlSt is the only team I can see challenging WSU next year. I'm still of the mindset that this is a special year for UNI, but also an abnormal one due to class balance. Next year they're guard heavy and probably in the low 20s in wins, depending on noncon SOS strength.

That'll be interesting to see. I really doubt UNI is capable of paying Jacobson more than a million.

I just don't see where it would come from with UNI's poor attendance.
UNI has some very large donors that are about to give Jake a 7 figure salary.

A head coaching position is about to become 100% endowed (not sure which yet).

Jake's current salary is already 100% privately funded.

Revenues at UNI at going up every year with me sources conning ever year.

Donations are setting new highs every year.

There's a reason nothing has been heard about UNI budget. It's because things at UNI aren't nearly what they used to be with budgets.

Jake is worth every single penny UNI gives him for his coaching job plus everything he does/means for the university and city.

You want a school with budget issues, go look in Carbondale. They are about to get 44mil cut from them

Baseball...6 years ago due as much to title ix as anything.

Since then UNI has restructured and millions have been put into building renovations, upgrades, etc.. with other major renovations in planning mode

Are we sure people from Illinois should be casting budget stones right now?
