Tuttle

Just wondering if anyone knows if Seth Tuttle plans to keep playing basketball after this year? He's kind of a tweener by NBA standards but I could see him being very successful in Europe if he wants to keep playing.

He wants to coach. Personality and relationship wise I don't see him as a guy that would really like being in Europe. He's really close to his family and community and is in a pretty serious relationship. I would think that his playing career won't last long if its not in the US.

Yup.

I could...maybe...see the following situation though -

Go play 2 years in Europe to earn some money, come back to UNI and become a GA at UNI to start his coaching career

Or, pretty much exactly what Jake Koch did the last 2 years and the next 2 years. Johnny pwas a GA at UNI, then got moved to video coordinator. Kwadzo was playing overseas for a couple years but is the GA right now, and Jake just finished 2 years in Germany and will be the GA for the next two years (or so I've heard)

Several times when watching Tuttle this year it struck me that he would be a heck of a player in the NBA if he were just a bit taller say 6 10 or 11. His post skills are just incredible.

But not every great college players game translates to the NBA. And if he has a great tournament and UNI makes a run he might still get a chance at the next level here at home.

If he was 6'10 or 6'11 he doesn't end up at UNI to begin with, sadly

The difference in salary between a GA at UNI or playing basketball in Europe/Korea/etc. is pretty significant.

I believe Stutz was making around $175k in Korea immediately after the draft (not sure how taxes play into that). A GA at UNI would make, what, $30k?

Building your way up to coaching from being a GA requires a significant amount of passion for the career field and a willingness to be very poor for a long period of time.

Tuttle wants to coach.

Tuttle grew up 60 minutes north of Cedar Falls and is still VERY close with everyone in that town.

His family/mentors mean an extreme amount to him. See the UNI All Access episode dedicated to him that followed him back to his hometown.

He might play a year or two - but the Jake Koch route will be the longest period of time

Seth seems like a fine young man. I wish him success wherever he ends up.

I'll also throw in that money is of no concern. The girl he's dating/engaged to is the daughter of a multi-millionaire car dealership owner.

You mean the man who could probably buy Cedar Falls and Waterloo outright and still be the one of the richest men in the city?

Yeah...
