MVC Games the slowest ever

If you thought it seemed like this year's MVC games were extremely slow, you're right.

Per Ken Pomeroy's blog:
One thing the conference accomplished this season was setting a standard for slowness. The MVC averaged 60.02 possessions per 40 minutes during conference games ... [I]t still managed to break the previous record for long possessions set by the 2009 Big Ten (60.4)

It has become painful to watch. Could the Valley institute a 24 second shot clock on it's own?

Funny...

UNI and WSU games are incredibly fun to watch.

More possessions =/= more fun

Evansville was tied for first in points per game, Indiana State 4th. Both of them were terribly boring to watch. They were also both bottom 3 in the conference in defense.

This.

I prefer higher tempo games, somewhat, but really it's just about efficiency. Whether the tempo is slow or fast, if both teams are efficient on offense and defense, it's a great game.

An inefficient up-tempo team is a joke to watch. An inefficient slow-tempo team is excruciating to watch.

Those WSU/UNI games were very slow tempo, but they were a heavyweight fight with every punch that was landed. It would have been fun to see that game on a neutral court with both teams at their best, since both teams were more inefficient than normal on the road.

A distant fourth in conference games. Which is really where Evansville could be excruciating to watch. Lots of fun games in the non-con.
