Bad Draw for the MVC?

Postby jsaluki080 » March 17th, 2015, 8:06 am

I see IU and Wyoming being VERY scary opponents in the first round.

I hope I'm wrong. In fact, please tell me why I am wrong because I really want to see the UNI and WSU go far in the tournament.

I think Wyoming might be the most difficult match-up in UNI's pod. That said, I like that Coach Jake and his assistants have 5 days to prepare. If the seeds were flipped and UNI was the 4 and Louisville was the 5, and Wyoming upset Louisville, I wouldn't want to play them on such a short turnaround.

I think UNI's bracket is setup nicely for them to advance, if you make it pass Wyoming. I feel they are better than a 12 seed. I just wish you drew Wofford instead. lol

Good Luck, I hope Coach has your boys prepared.

I think if both UNI and WSU play their normal game they should win. If both shoot pretty well from 3 and have reasonable points in the paint, win by double digits. Ofcourse anything can happen.

I picked UNI to play Louisville and WSU playing Kansas, both will be tough games.

I would like to see a UNI vs NC State matchup, and WSU vs Notre Dame. Fun times.

Clappy the Clown and his loosiers have a history of choking in the big games during the ncaa. In the past 10 games they won 2 and lost 8.... Why they are in the dance, we just don't know

I like the match-ups just fine. It's the NCAA tournament. There aren't any cupcakes for those seeded above 3.

Wyoming is 102 on KenPom. That is a super favorable draw regardless of how fun Nance Jr. is to watch.

Indiana is 53 on KenPom. That's usually ~12 seed territory and their defensive efficiency is ranked 216th per the same site.

Both teams did fine with their Round of 64 matchups.

As someone already said, this is the NCAA tourney, any team in it is good enough to win. With that said, I love the draws. Especially UNI's.

Indiana is 2-5 in their last 7 and 4-7 since February. With wins over Rugters x2, Michigan, and Northwestern. They are guard oriented, don't play great defense, and don't have post players that will kill us down low. KU is by far the easiest of the 2 seeds, completely ignoring everything else the game means.

UNI, even though I will agree, Wyoming is a scary match up for them, but that is always the case in the 5/12 game. Beyond that, I love it. UNI couldn't get a better 4, if Louisville even makes it. Louisville can't shoot and is a match made in heaven for UNI's pack-line defense. Beyond that, Nova is a beatable 1 and Virginia has been trying to figure out what it is with/without Justin Anderson. I'm not saying UNI will win the title, but I certainly consider it in the realm of possibilities they could make it to the Final 4, and I really don't think that is my Valley bias speaking.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

WSU could be the 6 seed and no one would complain too much. Indiana could have been a legit 11 and the two still could have matched up. KU could be a 3 and ND a 2. Basically, WSU could have moved up a seed line and received the exact same draw.
