It probably was great when everyone was on ESPN, but 28 still play on the family of networks. It may not have Gonzaga, but there are still some good names in the tournament. The fact that all the Valley teams get a chance to play in it is a good thing in my opinion. You have to imagine that it is only an "important" game regarding the NCAA tournament for a few teams anyway. There is no harm in adding an extra 50 teams to the schedule.

It is an easy non-conference game to schedule for the future...a possibility of being on ESPN...the chance to play someone with a similar RPI...the chance to build the resume...????

I don't see how it can hurt anyone in the Valley. They aren't putting an MVC team with a 30 RPI against a team from the Sun Belt with a 198. They are pretty much equal or at least as close as they can get.

Many years when Niagara was good I wanted BU to draw them. Well, this year we might get them for all the wrong reasons!

But Niagara also has a player from Peoria, so I can really see that matchup happening. It would also be funny if they'd win because JL twice passed over bringing in their current Associate Head Coach Luke Dobrich.

Funny would be replacing Les with Chuck Buescher.

No. Funny would be replacing JL with Jeremy Crouch or Sam Singh which people have actually suggested at BFF.

We're going to get a terrible draw.

The BB should be renamed "The Valley against the best of the one bid conference world".

Because that is what it has become. Hopefully the "family of networks" won't soon mean one game on espn2, a few games on the U, and the rest of the "TV" games on espn3 (which really isn't on TV). It is already getting pretty close to that.

Well, until we get back to multi-bid status, we have nothing to complain about.

And it is nothing close to what you described at the bottom. There were 6 games on the Deuce(3 with Valley teams) last year and 5 on the U. The way it is now, very few people don't get the U if they get ESPN and ESPN2

I would suspect that both MSU and WSU will be on ESPN2 again and if UNI can find some way to climb back up, they should be as well.

Agreed, we have become a one-bid league ourselves.

On top of that, seeing how some schools have put together their schedules, the opponent they get through the BB process is better than the SWAC or MEAC or D2 school they would certainly otherwise schedule.
