Also, he was tops in the MVC in FT made.
He took 300 more shots than Mock, who was second in the league in FG %. In fact, he missed more shots than anyone else in the conference took.
Imagine some of those 318 misses going to Mock, who shot 58% from the floor.
Maybe Wing, who shot 53%
Maybe Simmons who shot 46^
Maybe Brown, who shot 47%
Maybe Gibson, who shot 52%
Maybe Moore, who shot 73%
In fact, the only person to have a lower shooting % than DJ that played at least 10 min per game was Brozja.
Points isn't everything when it comes to offense. Effenciency is. It's the difference between 30+ wins and an NCAA tournament appearance and 20-24 wins and a CIT berth
DJ scored 1.001 points per shot
Mock was at 1.2
That's a BIG difference over the course of a season and 300 shots.
Evansville fans get so pissy when it's pointed out there's a lot more to basketball than they realize.
DJ took over 120 more shots this season than the second most, Anthony Beane. Just because you're scoring points doesn't mean you have a good offense. He now has the 2 top more shots taken in a season in MVC history and nothing is going to change so he will have taken the top 3 single season shot totals in MVC history. He's already #11 all time, and that's with taking only 276 attempts his freshman year. He's on pace to pass Colt, currently #1, by 200-300 shots. If you consider that a good offense, when he's been bottom 3 in FG% on his own roster that entire time, then...well...that's Evansville in a nutshell with Marty
