UNI got a commit last night from 6-9 235 PF Austin Phyfe from Waverly, IA. Has played with his back to the basket but is expected to play more of a swing 4 for a very good high school team this year. His dad played at UNI in the late 80s and early 90s and was on UNI's first tournament in 1990.

Picked UNI over offers from Drake, Air Force, South Dakota State and both North Dakota Schools. Had recent interest from Creighton, Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa.

UNI fans are really excited about this kid. Think he's another one that is going to blow up in the coming months once he proves he has a perimeter game.

That's kind of the beauty of what Jacobson does. He takes kids that are fundamentally sound and coachable and he develops them for a year or two before unleashing a polished 21 year old on college basketball.

And this kid has grown up around the program so he knows what Jacobson expects.

Just saw this comment.

Would you like to tell the idiots in our fan base who want a rail thin 19 year old Luke McDonnell to play this year instead of having his age 23 season when he weighs 235 pounds.

We have the most irrational and basketball unintelligent fan base on the planet.
