Sources are confirming to me that current UNI Athletic Director Troy Dannen will be named the AD at Tulane this afternoon.

Any chance he'll take the football coach with him? Any why doesn't anything ever come out of right field?

Would be interested in hearing UNI fans' thoughts. I know nothing about the situation but from an outsider's perspective the Panther athletic department has been clicking well over the last decade or so. Hopefully this continues under the successor.

It definitely is. Maybe he got bored? Not a lot to do as the UNI AD right now. Not much of a chance to make a name for one's self if trying to continue moving up the ladder. The top 3 programs (FB, BB, VB) all have good coaches and compete for championships regularly.

Apparently, he's been looking to get out since the new president was hired and almost took a job as Barry Alvarez's #2 last year.

The timing is right, he's fixed the financial situation, locked up Jake and has all the Olympic sports on solid footing, with the possible exception of Track.

Top priority for new AD is keeping Jake happy. Losing him would be catastrophic for the entire department.

Uniftw is right, Steve Schofield should be the guy. The other two deputies, Steve Gearhart and Jean Berger, would also be great choices. The president is talking national search which is a bit concerning. Hire from within!
