Was a weird deal all the way around. Nobody had ever heard of the kid until the day before he signed and didn't really have great offers (South Dakota State and Western Illinois). He also got arrested for OWI and possession in May before he graduated from DMACC.
I think Jake saw athleticism and length, but I don't believe he fit in and really wanted to have the opportunity to be scorer and that just wasn't going to happen with Waspun, Jesperson, and Bohannon on this year's team. His role was diminishing and diminishing fast, in fact if Morgan hadn't fouled out Saturday night he wouldn't have played at all.
Robbie Knar is perfectly capable of giving the spot minutes (2-4 per night) that Austin's role was going to be. It does open up a scholarship for a transfer guard next spring. Jake is already said to be looking for a one and done grad transfer. He said yesterday that barring significant injury they aren't going to pull any redshirts.
