Adequate? The 3 together held a lottery pick to 10 ppg below his season average. WSU's 3 backup post players (with Grady out with an injury), held one of the best post players in the nation to a minimal performance.
WSU's "adequate" post presence was 5/8 from the field for 10 points. Utah's lottery pick got 11 points. He was 4/5, but the fact that he only got 5 shots might say a little something about the D that WSU's "adequate" post players played against him.
I'll stand by adequate from a "season thus far" standpoint". I wasn't commenting on just this one game?? I've watched a number of Shocker games and most games those 3 have looked lost including Morris who has a ton of physical talent.
But even regarding this game the Shox three post defenders hardly shut Utah's post down? Not by themselves. It was WSU's swarming help defense that did that. The few times he was allowed to operate one on one it looked like he scored fairly easily. And the 3 headed post grabbed a grand total of 4 boards.
The so called 3 headed monster has only been occurring during this past week against UNLV and Utah. They held Zimmerman (5* one and done recruit) and Poetl (a projected lottery pick this year), significantly below their averages. I don't know the entire game plan, but their job was to seal Poetl from getting rebounds instead of getting them themselves. Utah and WSU were almost equal on rebounds even though WSU shot some 25 shots more than Utah. I think that this will work because each of the 3 players are very different in the strengths they use to defend. Shaq has a lot of bulk and tends to push the Center away from the basket while Bush has a lot of length and will bother his shot more.

At the beginning of the second half, the broadcasters kept gushing over Poetl (sp).
He scored 1 point in the last 17 minutes of the half.

Another cool stat: Shox points off of turnovers - 25. Utah had zero. Nada.
I doubt these two recent wins allow them to regain a spot in the polls. Need a 10-12 game win streak to make that happen.

Seton Hall on the road will be tough, but it will be necessary for the Shockers to re-enter the polls. A 6 game winning streak to end the non-con would probably be enough.

#31 today so a solid win at 8-2 Seton Hall just might do it.

They will spend most of '16 in the top 25.

Will still take some time. Can't lose, and need a couple weeks at least to get enough wins for the record and attrition amongst the rest of the T25.
Seton Hall on the road will be difficult.
