Well played game. Shockers almost pulled away late in the second up 9, but the Aces went on a 7-0 run in about 40 seconds. I think it was pretty clear that the game plan was to slow Mock (second lowest point total of the season but 15 boards) and DJ (lowest output of the year), but Wing and Brown put on a show. One more showdown before St Louis.

Um, well, had the Shockers lost the Aces would have been undefeated. Kinda tricky how that works.

UE has got to fix their FT shooting in conference, 3 straight games with issues.
Blake spent the last 12:26 on the bench, UE's last substitution. The writing on the wall has been noticed and read it looks like.

It was a battle out there, physical both ways. Shockers seemed to hit a big shot all night long when UE would close to a single possession game. They deserve a lot of credit for that. By the same measure UE seemed to do the same to WSU everytime they tried to extend the lead as well.

It's great to see guys like Jaylon Brown, Mislav, and Wing playing well. DJ couldn't seem to get a shot to rattle home after getting halfway down, but the supporting cast has gotten better and that's why this Evansville team can contend in the league.

January 31 should be fun, but until then, there are other opportunities both ways.

Fun game, proud of the way Evansville battled, a play here or there late in the game and it might have been a different outcome.

Or the timeout WSU called without having possession, which led to Wessel's only 3 of the night and a 60-57 lead. We could go back and forth all you want with bad calls.

As it is - the more athletic, deeper team that executed their game plan won. No doubt in my mind. And for at least the first 10 minutes of the second half, WSU seemed to want it more and made more effort plays. Once Evansville put their best 5 on the floor (no comment) momentum turned. Credit Grady, Wessel, and Brown for making big plays/shots to fend off the Aces. That's what good teams do, and obviously the Shox are one of those.

At about the 10 minute mark in the second half, Coach Simmons had a revelation of sorts and sat #50 down for the rest of the game. Everything changed for the Aces.

I have seen #50 play fairly often. It is a wonder to me that he is even on the floor.

If #50 had not played, there is a very good chance that the Aces would have won. I realize the Aces are thin on depth, but damn....

Evansville played their little hearts out. Brown had a monster game. WSU really needs to learn how to make a layup. Not FVV's and Baker's best games and they still found a way to win. Also the officiating was suspect late. But again, still found a way to win.

Nice to see the streak stay preserved.
