Glad you enjoyed watching The ACES, get a nice VALLEY road win, last night.
However, then you had to have noticed that when, "the shooter", was on the bench with foul trouble, in the second half for almost 7 mins, The ACES actually increased their lead over ISU, from (37-33) up to (46-37).
Outscoring ISU 9-4.

Did you happen to catch the 3+ minutes in the first half with DJ on the bench? (11:50 - 8:30 mark). Aces had 5 possessions, resulting in 4 turnovers and 1/2 FTs. They were outscored 7-1 during that period. If that's the definition of an offense stalling.

I may be wrong, but I also can't think playing Iggy all 20 minutes in the second half is a good idea. He did the same at Wichita. Even had to burn a timeout because he was so gassed. Is it connected to his poor FT shooting? I don't know.

Who/what comment are you referencing?

But yes- 4 SWAC/MEAC schools is inexcusable.

Mark my words, Balentine, Iggy, Wing, and Brown by Arch Madness Will Not Have Any Legs Left, Because Of The Mule being his usual stubborn self by playing the starters too many minutes and refusing to play his bench. I saw Crews do it season after season and Marty is a Crews discipline.

I watched the game three times.
First time, live as it happened.
Second time, fast forwarding to the “good parts”, like watching a Tarantino film.
Third time, just those 3 minuets you refer to of the first half.

The five ACES possession you mention went as follows
An Adam Wing panic pass into traffic, as he was once famous for in the past.
Questionable call of a Mislav pass deflected, out of bounds to ISU.
Harris' drive through the lane, being fouled and making one of two.
A Mislav, no looker, that EMO wasn't looking for.
A really nice fast break entry pass into EMO, that he fumbled, from Harris.

I'll also add, JayB was on the bench that entire time as well.

So, if a team can sit their leading scorer, top assist man, team leader, an MVC POY nominee, a three year starter that's arguably the face of the program for 10 minutes, a full 25% of the game and play a tough MVC road game to basically a tie (11-10).
I call that a “push”.
Job well done ACES!

Bball Junkie wrote:Jaylon Brown has always had the talent and skills, he just never received the amount of minutes to showcase them during games. He is quicker than Gibson, a better shooter and scorer than Gibson, and is a better off the ball defender as well. The one thing he lacks is size, but his hustle and energy level more than make up for it.

JayB and Boo shared the point duties for two full seasons, as PG by committee.
Perhaps Coach Simmons played them as he did for their careers, at UE, on the risk of one leaving the program?
Boo, in my opinion, is a bit foul prone (fouling out 8 times in 73 games). But, pushes the ball up the floor and knives his way to the basket, faster than JayB. And, with his length can make him a solid defender. However, has never taken a three point shot, in both college or high school.
JayB, is an offensive threat and an explosion just waiting to happen. He can rip off a quick 5-7-9 points by himself and really turn a game around.
Boo, has been sidelined for most of the year and played only in 4 of The ACES 19 games. (fouling out in one of them).
But, I agree, JayB's hustle and energy are fun to watch and a credit to his skill.
His ability to fly above the fray, while going to the hoop, is also quite entertaining for ACES fans.

Yesterday's win over the Salukis was huge for potential postseason opportunities. And I am talking about the real postseason – not the pay for play stuff we have been to in the last few years.

Here are a couple NIT projections:

http://www.nycbuckets.com/2016/02/nit-bracketology-feb-17-2016/

http://www.dratings.com/predictor/bracketology/

http://bracketmatrix.com/nit

The projections show the Aces as anywhere from a 5 seed to an 8 seed. I hoped prior to the season the team would host a NIT game (4 seed or higher).

It's still a precarious spot though- because historically at least 8 spots in the NIT have gone to lower conferenxe regular season winners. Avoiding a loss @ Bradley or Friday in St. Louis is a must.
