What a miss for the Birds as Nic Moore is starring at undefeated SMU after spending his freshman year at ISUr

Nic Moore had the shooting touch and basketball IQ that ISUr is lacking.
Doesn't help either that Nick Ziesloft is at Indiana, Johnny Hill is at Purdue and Reggie Lynch is at Minnesota!

Problem is Nic would have graduated by now if he stayed at ISUr.

Dan "I only wear brown shoes and baggy pants" Muller

We also would have had Beane if Jankovich didn't leave and Muller replaced his Dad from being an assistant.

Moore, Beane, Carmichael, Tyler Brown - YIKES

I would have loved to have kept Nic, but he was pretty clear that he decided to leave as soon as he found out Jankovich was leaving. I don't think it had anything to do with Muller.

According to one of the guys announcing tonight's UNI-IlSU game, Johnny Hill has said it was a mistake to transfer. Given where he ended up, I suspect that he's wrong about that...but as the announcer said, it's unusual for a transfer to speak so highly of his former school.

Maybe you keep Beane Sr. instead of hiring Dana Ford. Maybe Muller prompted Reggie's departure. I just don't know.

In terms of players, my concerns about Muller relate more to some of the transfer head cases that he recruited early in his tenure (e.g. Lofton). It seems that he has recently focused more on high school recruits, so perhaps he has changed his approach.

It's not just Nic Moore - I watched the Indiana-Minnesota game last weekend and two real difference-makers were the former MVC players Joey King (Drake) and Nick Zeisloft (ISUR). And of course Reggie Lynch is sitting on Richard Pitino's bench this season.

The MVC as a whole would be a lot better this year if its teams had been able to hold onto their recruits.

I wouldn't cast Ziesloft as a difference maker for Indiana but he definitely would have helped ISUr.
His .427 3pt shooting is far and away better than his replacement (McCloud - .227)
McCloud's brief hot streak today showed what a difference a good 3 pt shooter can make for a team that normally struggles to make shots.

Not most days, but he was in the Minnesota game.
