I think the author just wanted to have a Mid-Major on his list of 9.

It would not surprise me though to see the NCAA Tourney battle tested
group of Marshall, VanVleet, Baker and Wessel make another Final Four this year.
In fact I would love to see it!

I'll absolutely be pulling for Wichita in the Big Dance this year, however I don't think they have it in them for another Final 4 run.

Their backcourt is experienced enough to win a game and maybe get to the Sweet 16, but once they run into an athletic team that can control the boards, I fear they'll be in trouble.

Again, I'll be pulling for them, but this year's team is a step back in my opinion.

It all depends. WSU has shooters. Van Vleet, Baker, Frankamp, Brown, McDuffie and even Wessel have all shown throughout their careers that they are capable of being deep threats. They definitely aren't consistent but if they any combo of 2 to 3 of those can remain hot for 6 games .. anything can happen. Boards don't matter if you are hitting. Though I do think Morris/Grady do a good job controlling the paint. They may not get a ton of boards, but they do open up the lane so our guards can.

Consistency is the big unknown. Will our shots (and offense) just disappear like they did against UNI and ISU? If so, we are an easy out.

Sure, they were colder than normal on the wide open ones (uncharacteristically so during 2nd half of ISU game), but it just seems like this year shot creation is taking more effort than in the past.

Morris/Grady do a good job controlling the paint in the Valley. But that's a different story once you run into a Power Conference opponent. I just think athleticism gives Wichita fits the way their current roster is constructed. Baker and Wessel turn into liabilities instead of assets.

Morris and Grady actually did pretty damn good against Poeltl, Zimmerman, and Mock. Those are 3 of the better big men in the country. Foul trouble is what kills them. If we have to bring in Nurger or Wamukota it gets very hit and miss.

Baker is in no way a liability. Wessel definitely can be though.

I'd be curious to see Bakers efficiency rating and other advanced stats the past 10 games or so. Just hasn't seemed like the Baker we are all used to seeing.

"Glue guy"....okay? In college basketball your 2 guard needs to be a stud
so I would love to have an actual really good scorer like Baker on my team!
