I really thought Lusk was a good hire for MSU at the time. He was coached by Herrin and mentored under Painter. I expected more from a Salukis. I would not set the odds high on him retaining his job after next year.

Yeah congrats Shocker faithful. The only other team to win 3 straight MVC regular season titles was the Rich Herrin coached Salukis way back when. Taking the opportunity to say that now...from now on it will be a new Shocker record...4 in a row...5 in a row. Also fact check me on that...I'm going off of memory. Don't think it has been done any other times.

The secret appears to be good defense plus playing a nine/ten man rotation which is running the opposition ragged---Their Bench really is NOT their bench is averaging 40 plus points a game lately--Porter has is regulars come in after the first TV break. It is working--Plus TURK is heating up nicely 5 threes in Springfield today.

Ramblers may be big trouble in St Louis.

I like the way PM coaches. What I would give to have UE's bench utilized in the same fashion.
I thought there was enough talent to platoon and not give up much, well hindsight and all - might be on a higher radar for the post season had the bench been developed.

Don't shoot the messenger, but I think Kansas holds the record with five straight.

Maybe it was SIU in early 2000s.

I will check.

They said on the telecast that Kansas does in fact hold the record with 5 straight. Something like 1922-1927. I don't remember exactly. Southern won four in a row from 02-05.

SIU - 02-05 Champions, one shared.

Kansas - 22-27 Champions, one shared.

Cincinnati - 58-62 Champions, one shared.

Most championships: I did not count. KU, Oklahoma State in the running.

When SIU was on their run, I said their record would never be broken. Given the latest conditions in the Valley, SIU's record might be broken.

Many have won 3 or more in a row (although many involve divisional splits and shared titles, hence some overlap). It was Weber's Salukis that won 4 in a row in the early 2000's, and 5 in 6 years. Herrin did not win 3 regular season titles in a row, but he did win 3 tournaments in a row ('93-95):

1908-1912: Kansas (5 in a row)
1912-1914: Nebraska (3)
1922-1927: Kansas (6)
1930-1932: Creighton (3)
1936-1940: Oklahoma State (5)
1941-1943: Creighton (3)
1944-1946: Oklahoma State (3)
1958-1963: Cincinnati (6)
1967-1969: Louisville (3)
1969-1971: Drake (3)
2002-2005: Southern Illinois (4)

KU - 13 championships
OSU - 16 championships

Some of KU's championships occurred, when the conference had north and south divisions. During these times, a conference champion was not declared. Only division champions were declared.

Some leagues declare the tournament champion as the official league champion. How do we all stack up in that regard?

Between 1936-1954, Oklahoma State won or shared the title 14 times in 19 years (with the other in 1931).

I only count 15 for Oklahoma State. Wikipedia lists 1925 as a regular season championship year but they only went 5-7. They did win the Southwest Conference in 1924.
