That is interesting since he didn't really improve all that much.
For the Shockers Zach Brown probably would have deserved it more than Shaq.

We're not solid now, and the top talent is departing.

So in these situations, coaching becomes a huge factor. Will SIU win the MVC since he is the best coach in the league?

Here comes your fuzzy logic again. So Barry wins Coach of the YEAR and you get salty and then are like well "SIU should be great because they have the best coach."

No that isn't how the Coach of the YEAR works. Barry did the best job coaching this year. His team was not expected to be as good as they were. He did a great job with a young group, and put together a great year. Sure you could have given it to Marshall as he did an outstanding job again, but sometimes people don't win awards for just achieving expectations. What is the point of a Coach of the YEAR award if you just give it to the same coach every year because he is the best coach? I think Barry did a better job coaching his team this year than Marshall did. To finish tied for 4th with the team he has is very impressive. Winning a league you are predicted to win with two returning All-Americans just doesn't seem as impressive does it?

However, coaching will be a big factor. So I assume teams like WSU, UNI, and ISUr will remain at the top. Two of them because of coaching and one because they don't lose a ton of talent. SIU might be a dark horse next year. Beane is a big loss, but Barry is one of the better coaches in this league.

That's interesting, considering Shaq is easily the most improved player on the roster.

I guess it's not shown by the numbers then because he only scored 2 more points a game and added 1 more rebound.

Are you one of those people who thinks stats are everything? That's too bad.

Also going off what I have seen while watching Shocker games. In my opinion Brown is
your most improved player. That's not a knock on Morris...I think he could be a really
good player if he could stay out of foul trouble.

Actually, Shaq has been doing a lot better of playing great defense without fouling lately.

You know, Morris and Brown both put together a good resume for most improved team; however, I thought the selections made were excellent choices.

Not much was said about Wes's injury in Hawaii and illness during our bad losses. If we had two point guards (like last year) or more than 8 eligible players, Wes probably would have sat out many of those losses. Then his

Even so, his defensive impact on great players like Ballentine, Bean, and FVV should have been obvious. Not putting him on the first team was just ignorant voting. I think he proved that last night.

I'm a big fan of this Shocker team and individual players. And I've seen most of their games. But I'm not a Shaq fan at all. He has loads of physical talent but.....things just don't add up. He's frequently in Marshall's doghouse, he fouls too much, he frequently sulks, poor conditioning to start the year, etc, etc.

When I've watched him in person his body language just seems all wrong. Hopefully he gets it together and becomes a force for you guys.
