IMHO, beating CU at home on a buzzer beater at this point in the season is not much. CU continues to struggle to find its identity as players like Kenny Lawson and Wayne Runnels decide what they want their senior season to be like and all of the players continue to figure out their roles on this team with the recent addition of Echinique. I expected we would be right around a game or two better than .500 through the first half of the season and hoped we would steal a home win over either WSU or MSU. I don't think anyone is going to get the better of this team at home the rest of the year, and I expect that they will have a good chance of running the table except the road games at MSU and WSU - and possibly UNI. If that happens, we are 12-6 and probably in a a toss-up between CU and ISU blue for third/fourth depending on how ISU blue fares on the road against the middle and bottom half of the standings. This team is going to have to continue to gain steam into the MVC and hopefully catch fire in St. Louis or it will probably be home for the post-season for the first time in a long, long time - if you count the CBI as post-season.

Eh, I can't be too hard on them. It has been a long time coming for 'em. It might not last long so they might as well enjoy it. Bears fans know all too well about it after starting 10-0 last year and thinking we weren't getting respect. And we actually had a road win worth a hoot too.

It is going to be a great game and not easy by any stretch of the imagination. It needs to be great as it will benefit both teams down the road.

I want to see 17-0 v. 16-1 on February 26th and the next step is Terre Haute.

The tie breaker this year is OOC SoS. WSU has got that by a long ways now with only BB to affect it. WSU should get #1 seed in St. Louis if there's a tie.

Probably the best situation for the Valley would be for MSU to finish at 18-0 and WSU to finish at 16-2 and win in St. Louis. That would almost guarantee two NCAA bids. I can't see MSU winning in St. Louis with a short squad (by numbers) at the end of a long season and trying to keep legs under the players for 3 games in 3 days.

That's not the finish I'm hoping for. I want WSU to have an outright MVC championship. That's going to require MSU to run out of gas well before St. Louis.

Especially Sub 200+ MVC teams.

Sycamores really don't need your respect, they just want to keep beating you.

Evidently there are some suckamore fans who seek homage for sucking up non-conference season and then riding a string of victories against the bottom feeders of the MVC conference.

Two-way Ties

--Records in head-to-head competition are compared, with the higher seed going to the team that has won the most games against the other.
--If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken by a power-rating system, using league games. The team among the tying institutions with the better point total will receive the higher seed.
--In the event the tie cannot be broken, the seeding shall be determined by RPI.

A lot can change between now and February 26th though...

No, that's wrong. Aargh is correct. It has been changed for this year. see this: http://www.pjstar.com/sports/x188285835 ... alley-ties

Arrogance from certain fan bases amazes me and not being able to give credit to a team. It may very well be fools gold but let them enjoy it.

BTW looking at the two schedules they are not too far off of each other right now.

ISU has played:
BU
@UE
ISU
UNI
@DU
@BU
CU

WSU:
UE
@BU
DU
@ISU-R
MSU
@CU
@DU

After tomorrows game. The schedules are almost identical of who they have played. If ISU-B wins tomorrow, the advantage would go to ISU since they would have beat MSU at home, something WSU couldn't do.

They've been a surprise, but they'll finish 4th at best and could end up a .500 team. Props to them though for having a good start. I just hope the fans don't get suicidal when it falls apart on them.

Head-to-head is still the first tiebreaker, the RPI is replacing the power rating system where you look at results against the league as the second tiebreaker.
