Austin Reaves with another electrifying performance. 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists doesn't scream FOY, but he is special!
I’m not usually one to boast or brag on message boards, but I’ve watched over 50 years of Shocker basketball and will offer an opinion on Austin Reaves. He’s one of the most exciting freshman I’ve seen at WSU and he looks like he’s shy of 15 years old. He doesn’t ‘wow you’ with great athleticism, but does everything well. I think the wild card will be his health; having two shoulder surgeries the past couple of years is a concern. As long as he stays healthy, “Katy bar the door”. Watching him play is worth the price of admission.
Coach Marshall recently said that Austin Reaves has some ‘Pistol Pete’ in him and that’s the first person that came to my mind when I watched him play in a scrimmage. He’s a ‘rubber band’ man and highlight reel waiting to happen.
He’ll be ‘coming soon’ to an arena near you; get out and watch this kid play. I think most Valley fans will enjoy watching him do his thang.
Gregg Marshall: “His scoring numbers stand out, because that’s what he needed to do in order for his high school team to be successful, but we think Austin is the complete package. Growing up in a basketball family, he’s already developed a great skillset. He handles the ball well, plays good fundamental defense, and has a knack for getting to the foul line. He’s also a guy who excels at making plays for others.”
