Even if McDermott gets his players to players to play AT their ability level rather than below, the Jays should expect to be in the top 3 in the league every year. Hell, even this year if you look at talent level alone, Jays should be in the top 3 in the league with McDermott, Echenique, Lawson, and Young. Not sure what has happened the past couple years, but as long as McDermott doesn't screw things up, with our facilities we should be able to recruit top 3 talent in the league year in and year out. Of course, everyone wants to claim that if you are shooting for top 3 in the Valley, you aren't setting your goals high enough, but I don't think at this point that any program in our league shouldn't be happy with top 3 finishes every year. About 5 years ago, there were alot of CU fans (and probably SIU fans as well) that would have ripped someone for setting their goal as a top 3 finish every year in the league, but after what has happened at SIU, and what we at CU are trending towards, I think everyone can appreciate how difficult it is to stay in the top 3 of our league every year.
