People do realize that most posters here are in favor of Murray coming aboard and that no amount of repeat rhetoric on this board will make it happen. And the people who understand how the Valley works know it's not Elgin or the league office that determines these things, it's the University presidents.
For me, that's where it gets old and tiresome to hear the same thing over and over like somehow that will change things; we get it [ or at least most do]. Murray fans would like to be a Valley school. Murray has a great history and would be a good addition to the Valley. Murray travels well. Murray has a history of great coaches and turning out some NBA prospects. It's all good, but we don't vote.
It ain't MVC fans or anyone on this board keeping that from happening. It might be the going to 11 that's the issue, ot it might be no solid 12th member . Or it might be something none of us here have any inkling about, but obviously the presidents had an issue [ or several] that they weren't ready to move that direction last year, this year, and perhaps never. We don't know. Basketball at this level is a small consideration when presidents sit down to look at mergers. They may have very big significant concerns that has absolutly nothing to do with how good a basketball program Murray State has.

In the early '90s when the decision to add Evansville was being made, Butler was a consideration to be added. However, Evansville was seen as the more promising school from a basketball standpoint.
"In 1994, the MVC added Evansville instead of Butler. It appeared the obvious choice. Evansville had made three NCAA tournaments in the previous five years and its average home attendance exceeded 10,000. Butler had not danced since 1962 and drew meager crowds."
This is from the former Peoria Journal Star sports editor and is a good read on MVC expansion after Wichita left. https://www.pjstar.com/sports/20170506/ ... ew-members
