No school being added would help even fractionally which means the 8 remaining schools are almost required to try and get a different P5 league to add them or they would have massive budget reductions coming soon.

The basketball-only conferences like the Valley/BE/A10 seem unlikely to be impacted but it's possible if UConn leaves the BE or the AAC needs replacements. It looks like the backfill scenario may be more likely.

The Big Ten is a clear #2 in the pecking order of leagues and would pluck away an ACC team before adding far less desirable schools in small markets. I'm sure the Big Ten regrets adding Rutgers and Maryland when they did for cable sets, which is no longer a consideration in why a school gets an invite. Boy the Big ten screwed that up big time and I'm sure they will be very cautious with their next addition.
I also see no reason at all why any of the current Big 12 schools would want to go the AAC. If they want, they could add the best of the AAC without so much as a phone call.

The problem is that ESPN isn't going to let anybody go to the Big Ten (FOX).
This whole thing is a lot easier to comprehend if you think of it as ESPN vs FOX than any individual league.
We're headed for the ESPN super league (SEC & ACC) vs the FOX super league (Big Ten & PAC12 (lol)) with the only crossover between the two happening in the playoff/bowl games. The Big 12 got caught with their pants down and it's going to cost the remaining 8 their seat at the table. None of the other 8 brought anything to that league other than making scheduling easier for Texas and OU.
