Imagine if we could lure them back in if the AAC cant add anyone good then maybe they could help get Dayton. If we get one of those then that weakens the A-10 and its possible then that SLU comes. The ball keeps rolling and those 3 big adds could maybe lure Creighton back. Maybe Butler or Marquette after that. Now, all that won't happen but I'd be happy just getting Wichita and Dayton. it would eliminate travel expenses because everyone i mentioned is west of dayton and east of Wichita

There is a 0% chance of getting a Big East school. They're in a basketball only league full of peer universities with an East Coast sized TV contract.

That's the same reason that Dayton, Richmond, VCU or SLU aren't ever going anywhere other than where they are. They'll wait forever in the A10 for the slim chance it gets them a Big East invite.

I can see them waiting out their non-realistic chance at the Big East, but I can also see SLU re-think the A10 IF (and only IF) that league continues to lose its more notable members. They're still OK with it now because of Richmond, Dayton and UMass, and the fact that Bona and Duquesne are both actually good right now. . .but if Dayton, Richmond, and UMass are gone, SLU is then in a league with La Salle, St. Joe's, St. Bonaventure, Davidson, Duquesne, George Washington, Fordham, VCU, George Mason, and Rhode Island. . .while they like the East Coast exposure in a league with some noteworthy institutions, when St. Joseph's, VCU, and URI are the best of what's left. . .that's not what they signed up for.

I think we get Murray and see what shakes out. The league will have proactively improved and put itself in a position to be the beneficiary of p5 football shakeups. We should be sending a "are you sure?" email to SLU and Wichita every year, but we're in a position of strength and can't wait for more established programs to be looking for a basketball home in the midwest. If Belmont and Murray State aren't enough, in concert with the improved level of league play over the last year (and hopefully this one as well), to produce consistent at-large bids then maybe I will feel differently. But with the exception of Bradley (and that is probably just a one-off) and the ISUs, every team in the league seems to be improving. I don't think we need to be adding any unproven programs at this point.

Agreed. I think getting Murray and stopping for now at 12 makes sense. I would wait to see what happens to the AAC and Mountain West. Wichita State might have no choice but to return for the sake of their program. Really right now I think the only programs beyond Murray State that merit any consideration at all are Oral Roberts Northern Kentucky Little Rock and the Dakotas and they all have valid reasons why it would be a good idea to hold off on them for now. I think the way forward is crushing it over the next few years adding Murray alongside Belmont and holding a spot open for Wichita State should they need it. I don't see any of the other candidates having anywhere else to go right now (I guess the same is true for Murray State but I think it's clear they've earned an invite right now and the time is right to add them). If we can't get Wichita State back (I don't think there's anything we can do to get SLU because of their reliance on recruiting the east coast) then we can look at this pool of candidates (or anyone else who emerges) at a later time.

I'd welcome South Dakota State with open arms tomorrow.

The f****** drama queens in Fargo can stay up there and freeze.

Could you imagine our women's basketball with Belmont and South Dakota State added? My Goodness.

There is a long list of schools I'd take before I'd add any of the Dakotas.

I remember when you a-holes said ndsu couldn't complete in football. It's obviously a chance you don't want to take in basketball either. When is the last time you won a football game?

Drama? Youre the school that won't schedule ndsu in basketball, it is not the other way around. Clearly you have a burr in your saddle. We'd play you tomorrow in basketball. SDSU has had great success in basketball just like ndsu. Clearly your league would rather play Western than play the good teams in the Summit. Kudos to the Trees and the Bears.

We've offered you 2 for 1s on several occasions. Then y'all seem to forget you're in the Summit League and think you can demand a straight home and home.

Your football success lines up perfectly with the moment Chris Klieman showed up there. Trying to remember where he came from? Related question, where did your current HC and DC come from? Also, congrats on spending a literal fortune of FCS football, I'm sure it's worth it for the one afternoon every year where people actually remember you exist.

No you can head on back to Bisonville and talk about the injustice of a tiny skirmish that happened 12 years ago (that your guy started) and reminisce about 'UNI LOUD'.

I certainly do not have an issue with the Summit League. Last year's conf ranking had both the Horizon and OVC with Murray and Belmont looking up at the Summit. The majority of the Summit is still building budget and facilities, and the future is bright for the League. The Conference championship in SF is awesome in a top notch facility with fans bursting at the seams. A couple teams are dogs in BB (Western), and Denver need to fix some things, but It's really a good league.

A few years ago I longed for the MVC, today I'm meh. But I'd still like to see more games vs. those leagues and would like to play UNI, would be good for college BB in the midwest. With the privates in the Mvc, joining would probably not be good for dakota schools. I read this forum, then look where Murray state is on the map, and the ignorance about what an ndsu or sdsu would bring to a league like the mvc makes me laugh. Fargo is on 2 interstates with a quarter million people in metro, 3 hr from MSP and the Fargo airport 5 minutes from NDSU, with all their games on tv in ND and westerm MN, and I just have to laugh. Hope you get Murray state. Continue to ignorantly trash basketball in north and south dakota if you need that to boost your ego.

Not to jump into someone else's argument randomly, just me sticking up for the league... ND State and all of their fans would be INSANE, NUTS, and STUPID to not want in the Missouri Valley. The Summit being ahead of the Ohio Valley and Horizon means nothing. Just saying.....
