According to Ed Marlowe on Twitter Murray State UMKC and UT-Arlington will be presenting to the MVC presidents on December 19. Of these I really only want Murray State. We need to expand our consideration list beyond these three. I hate that we're honing in on Arlington and UMKC so early. We should take a stronger look at potential candidates.

I think we said no to UMKC the last two times so I don't know why they suddenly would be worthwhile.

Marlowe got that info from the Norlander podcast posted earlier. I heard from a very reliable source that we have already made a video presentation to the MVC as well as an on campus visit.

I don't know what is standard for these types of moves, but I hope that we require both of them to spend above the median MVC budget, whatever that number is, to build their program to make sure that they are at least serious about basketball. Granted, money doesn't always equal results, but in general is a pretty good indicator of success. And of course, that they have commit to having nice facilities. This COULD turn into a good thing if they commit recourses like Loyola did.

And...Bring in Murray. Just do it.

Agree. Bring in Murray State, NKU, UIC and then another private. Perhaps Oakland?

Oakland is public. Detroit? Lipscomb? Bellarmine?

Corret. My fault. Hard to keep up with all the possibilities.

Don't think Belmont would be cool with Lipscomb. They're big rivals and Belmont is the big mid-major in town, don't see them sharing that with them.

I think context clues make it clear he was not talking about NKU. He says that NkU makes sense to him but then goes on to say he's not going to reveal the 4th team. While not mutually exclusive those are pretty contradictory.

I think it does make sense that he might very well be talking about NKU. Like "Oh it does make sense but I'm not going to say one way or the other if you're right (wink wink nudge nudge)." NKU could very well be the fourth team and frankly with Loyola gone I think if we switched out KC with UIC I could get behind these four teams. If Arlington has all this money to spend and they can put together a good plan I might be able to stomach it especially if we're getting both Murray State AND NKU to add basketball punch to the ranks. I'd rather have Milwaukee but I've also heard some questions about their institutional commitment from Panther fans (Milwaukee Panther not UNI) in the past so maybe a committed Arlington could be a better add than Milwaukee. I think UIC is a borderline necessary addition with Loyola gone especially if two of the teams are Murray State and NKU. I think I could actually be pretty happy with that lineup even though I think Milwaukee would be better for student recruitment than Arlington for mostly geographic reasons.

The metroplex is blowing up in population.

Milwaukee is in decline and aging.

I think Arlington is the much better add from nearly every angle.

Like I said give me 2-3 other good programs and I'll be willing to roll the dice on Arlington. No KC please. I would LOVE Murray State NKU South Dakota State and whatever fourth the MVC wants.

Belmont the big mid major in town…. wow… I guarantee you 97% of the population of Nashville does not even know Belmont is in Nashville.
