That's probably a good sign for Indiana State. :)

Its always wild to me how much stock folks put in Lunardi and Palm nationally, when they're actually pretty poor prognosticators

Exactly right. Maybe I’ve just watched too many social strategy gameshows, but I’ve always believed personal relationships to be a massive factor. Even when Louisville was the surprise snub a few years ago, the committee chair was…rival Kentucky AD. If Indiana State gets left out, that lack of representation would be the reason why.

That said, I’m still confident they’re in, based on all the metrics the committee uses posted earlier.

Doug Elgin was a statesman of sorts. He knew everyone and treated people well, regardless of their relative position in the world.

How much that helped with bids, I don't know. But let's not forget that Elgin was a former SID, so he knew how to present his case.

Lunardi always updates his bracket an hour before it's released and gets it almost 100% right. If you're not in that one you're in trouble.

If by 100% you mean missing out on 3 to 5 teams every year, then yes he's 100%.

He got 67/68 teams the last couple years. Only missed Rutgers last year and Wyoming the year before.

“Lunardi misses out on 3 to 5 teams every year”

Turns out he’s only missed on 3 teams once since 2006 — all the way back in 2011. And never 4 or 5 teams.

Why lie?
