I've lived my whole life in the home of the CWS and believe me, people don't walk around Omaha talking about the SMS CWS team of 2003.

If your community's famous alumni consist of the "first gentleman on the first Bachelor" and John Goodman, I think it is fair to say that nobody outside of Springfield is spending their rime talking about it! You couldn't even use the Bachelor guy's real name in your post because either you don't know it or you were afraid nobody would recognize it. Embarrassing.

I think the point that needs to be made is yes 9k isnt great, but who is to say that fbs doesnt bumb that 9k to 18k. The locker rooms issue is good only for a jab, there are locker rooms less that 100 feet from the floor at jqh. They are MSU's locker room, yes the visiting team has to walk 500 ft but you think that someone at MSU is concerned about the visitors walking? I think not spend all the money you want too but until your high dollar invstments pay off ill take the thrifty winners.

I've wondered if this CaseyGarrison guy is Cold or Fever trying to make SWOMO fans look stupid.

Yes, it does (and I'm assuming by your avoidance of the question that the 9K attendance figure is accurate). Supporting the team at its current competition level shows that the school and program have support. Right now, you have more students enrolled at MSU than you have fans attending FB games! Failing to do so means that if you move up a level, people will be coming out to see the opponent, not MSU. That isn't usually a recipe for long term success.

Please don't use KC and St Louis as support. MSU is largely ignored in those areas and gets very limited media coverage. Plus, If Mizzou, who is much more popular, can't sell the Big 10 on its support in St Louis and KC, MSU can't either.

Isn't MSU the same school that can't afford locker facilities in its basketball arena? Isn't Luck's new contract 7th in compensation among all MVC schools? Are we to believe that this same school, who is notoriously cheap, has all kinds of extra money laying around to upgrade the stadium to the extent necessary to meet CUSA criteria? I guess it could be true, but it seems pretty unlikely....

I remember about 5 years ago, Illinois St fans came to ValleyTalk and boasted how they were about to be offered membership in the Big 12.....

I didn't feel like I was avoiding it. I really wasn't sure of the number because I am not a huge FCS football guy. There is a large area and a sizeable population that I think would support us if we were playing FBS. I think that you can sell the dream of Boise State and look at the leaps they have made. 30 years ago they were a junior college, now look. I think it would make a huge impact if we were BCS.

Now the money thing is a big issue. We might have to cut some sports, I'm not really sure. We will certainly need the corporate sponsors as well as extensive private contributions to really do this right. If it comes to fruition it is a gamble, but I think a necessary one.

Interesting....if he is, it's a job well done, but not necessarily a difficult job. :buddies:

You sound like one of those terrible California TV commercials. It's pretty sad that you are referencing John Goodman as a glorious byproduct of MSU as well as "the first gentleman on the first bachelor show."

ISU graduated the likes of Jane Lynch and John Malkovich. Does that mean we are next!!!!

Because that is just wishful/hopeful thinking, and is not based on reality. And the reality is that MSU has never had a successful football program, and has never had a good following. And that is even based on FCS standards.

Nope. In rereading what I have posted I might have been overzealous in parts but I am passionate about sports. We are all fans here and somewhat biased. I certainly am and I apologize if taking pride in something makes me paint the fanbase in a poor light. I didn't attack anyone or anything.
