Good answer and thanks for clarifying.

I'm not sure about your statement about "a strong desire by almost all MSU fans to make the jump" though. I'm not sure that is true. On the one hand C USA does seem to year in and year out get more ncaa bids. To me that's the only draw but it's a big one. But on the other hand it would be hard to leave the valley and all the rivalries that we've developed over the years. In my opinion that's equally as important. I wasn't disappointed at all when the rumor petered out. Most of the Bears fans I know in Spfld feel the same way.

I'll "take a shot" at MSU, glm...no personal offense. I think it's kinda funny that someone considered who would "replace" Illinois St, enough to start a thread (even though there has been almost no speculation along those lines of the initial intent) yet when Missouri St. fans talked about the move no one really batted an eyelash. Is it because no one cares or because no one would notice?

Sorry. Just a thought.

John I hope you are joking with the last sentence. No way Big XII-2 teams end up in the MVFC, it is not going to happen. To think otherwise is a delusional line of thought.

I think its pretty reasonable to believe, that with the direction the Big XII is heading and the success (or lack there of) by some of those lesser programs (Iowa St, KU, K-State and even Baylor) might make sense moving to the MVFC if it were realistically looking at moving up to the FBS and becoming another MAC. It's a lot less delusional and a lot more substantive than talking about secret (or not-so-secret apparently) sealed envelopes and moves to the FBS without a concrete resume or even a plaster one (HA! Building material humor 8-) )

I was thinking specifically Iowa State and as a second K-State. Both of these schools are only BCS because they are in the Big XII. Look no further than their budgets and revenue.

If the Big XII implodes, where does Iowa State go? The MAC? Iowa State is not a money school, they really bring little to the table and most of their current revenue is derived from the Big XII contract. Iowa State, I'm sorry to say, leaches off of the Big XII, they are a taker, not a giver. Without the Big XII revenue, they look exactly like a lot of other Valley schools. They have been forced to axe programs and are currently fielding the minimum to be considered D-1. And with what conference revenues are in the MAC, travel costs would kill Iowa State. Geographically, Iowa State fits in nicely with the MVC, not so much with the MAC. K-State looks similar, but they might be a better fit in the now, much more watered down WAC. Both of these programs are losers.

Anyone that thinks any more of Iowa State or Kansas State is kidding themself. No BCS conference wants either one of these dogs and if the Big XII does die, these programs are in real trouble. I'm not saying the MVFC should jump, I just wonder if they are looking into it. They should be at least looking.

What has the Valley done (by Valley I mean it's leadership, not individual schools leadership) to lead you to believe forward thinking is part of what goes on in St.Louis?

I'm sure somebody will come on here and defend the office. I don't have a problem with the way things are run today, just saying that via my perspective the Valley office doesn't seem to interested in anything other than the status quo.

As a point of reference, season tickets for Iowa State football are $375 for the best seats. Season tickets can be purchased for as low as $99. Kansas State season tickets run as high as $355. These are not BCS ticket prices! Compare that to Oklahoma, they are sold out, but to buy individual tickets to the six games plus the Red River, you would be over $600. And that is the cheapest face value. Then again, season tickets are sold out so good luck. $99 for season tickets looks eerily similar to MVFC ticket prices.

I don't think the office has done nearly enough. That said, I think the office should be exploring this option. It might not ever come to fruition, but something is going to give and the Valley can either benefit or take another step back. There are at least four schools that if a realistic and economical opportunity to jump to FBS were available, they would probably try. (UNI, SIU, ISU amd MSU). I don't know of the other schools in the MVFC, but I would think at least one of the Dakota schools would love to try if given a shot.

I don't know how the MVFC operates, I don't follow that level of football, but I would think they would at least be proactive enough to explore options.

Hey what's one more shot among friends?? There have been so many shots at us on this subject but who's counting? And no personal offense taken of course. Even though I have defended YOUR team on a couple of occasions. LOL.
