Nice win for Evansville. I wish it had been on TV.

UE 1-0...all that really matters. They have lots of rrom for improvement just like everyone else in the country after 1 game. Keep improving, IU up next.

Thanks for all the support and back handed compliments.

Just got back from the game. I feel wasted/exhausted! What a game to see in person. So many twists and turns throughout. It wasn't always pretty, but the Aces showed heart and a never give up attitude.

The crowd was electric...what a way to christen the new Ford Center!

I hope there were recruits in attendance, because if there were, they are bleeding purple by now! I did see the three we signed this week there.

Next up... Indiana. Can't wait.
Wishing I was back home again.

After looking at the video of the end of regulation, here's my take:

Smith receives the length of the court pass. Clock starts. There is a hand check foul on the floor almost immediately. The referee was on the spot with that call. The review was done to determine if the shot was in before the horn. It was not, and it wasn't really close. At that point in the game, Butler was in the double bonus, so any foul would have been 2 shots. It looks to me like the officials eventually got the call correct.

That call at the end of regulation was irrelevant. It was the one before it that screwed Butler.

I believe it was Ned Cox who shot a runner from the right side near the end of regulation. Colt Ryan pulls down the board near the baseline, then Jordan Jahr comes running down the lane and bumps Ryan, sending him out of bounds. Instead of giving the ball to Butler, they called a foul on Jackson Aldridge, sending Colt Ryan to the line for two shots, where he hit one and tied the game. Re-watched it half a dozen times and no Butler player even touched him before Jahr hit him with his shoulder.

The one at the end of overtime was worse. Colt Ryan misses a running layup and runs past the baseline. Andrew Smith pulls down the board and looks to pass, but as he does so, Colt Ryan comes from behind him, strips the ball, and lays it in. Great play, except he was standing out of bounds when he stole the ball. Basket counts.

Two absolutely unbelievable, incompetent calls.

Butler had plenty of chances to win that game and, if Smith makes either of those free throws it doesn't matter, but if that's what you guys deal with as far as officiating in the Valley, I'm glad we're in the Horizon.

This was a crew that does mostly Big 12 games in the conference season. UE probably won't see them again.

The steal was clearly a bad call.

Great win Aces!

The Valley is rolling this weekend. We need to capitalize on this momentum and get our RPI up in the non-con, and this is a good start!

Way to hang on.

So far, the teams picked to finish in the middle (MSU, UNI and UE) have the best wins. Hopefully, everybody else can do likewise.
