DES MOINES — The road finally caught up to Wichita State. Fouls. Hot shooting by the home team. Missed free throws. Fatigue. Bad bounces. It happens.
Drake knocked the Shockers out of a first-place tie in the Missouri Valley Conference with an 93-86 win in triple overtime. WSU (18-4, 9-2 MVC) lost its first road game in seven trips. Drake (13-9, 6-5) snapped a two-game losing streak and their students stormed the court. One fan took a picture of the scoreboard.

It took 15 additional gritty, grueling minutes Saturday, but Drake finally did something no else has been able to this year — beat Wichita State in its home gym.
Ben Simons scored a career-high 29 points, Rayvonte Rice completed his second consecutive double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Drake outworked Wichita State in a third overtime period to dispatch the Shockers 93-86 before an announced crowd of 4,895 at the Knapp Center.
To accomplish the upset, Drake had to overcome a 9-0 Wichita State lead, an off shooting night from Rice (5-of-23) and 27 points from Shocker center Garrett Stutz...........................
