Having recognizably strong academics just isn't one of yours though, huh? ;)

An interesting thing that I had noticed from SLU fans is that they seem to be championing Belmont to join the A10. That is not a school that we had discussed here in possible realignment for the Valley or at least that I remember. I like it. They wouldn't quite be ORU but Belmont is a good basketball school in a good city and finally a great academic institution. If I was Elgin I think I would be making phone calls to Nashville just to inquire.

What standards do you use to say that VCU has "sub par academics"?

Well it isn't a bad school. I mean I doubt that many of their graduates are CEOs at Fortune 500 companies but I'm sure they offer a quality education. If I had a son or daughter who wanted to go there even though it is in crappy Richmond, I'd be okay with it. Mostly my comment was just a throw away line. I had not put a lot of thought into it so if there are some incensed VCU alums on here I apologize.

I think this realignment thing is crazy with VCU being in the CAA next year. I am going to have to set aside some time in November to try to recall who is actually in what conference.

Yes, I wouldn't want my son or daughter to turn out like any of these people. If you are going to make a comment about a schools academics, you might want to do some research.

Science Hunter "Patch" Adams, M.D. - Founder of the Gesundheit! Institute and subject of the movie Patch Adams.
Baruj Benacerraf, M.D. - Winner of the 1980 Nobel Prize in Medicine.
Saul Krugman, M.D. - A medical researcher who discovered a vaccine against hepatitis B.
Arpad Vass - research scientist, forensic anthropologist and professor
Business & Finance
David J. Burton - Founder and President of LifeSeeds, LLC, a company that specializes in motivation and individual/group development. Includes LifeSeeds Summer Camps.
Nancy C. Everett - CEO of General Motors Asset Management Corp. and its U.S. subsidiaries.
Marcus D. Jones - Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) for Finance and Administration for the City of Richmond, Virginia
John C. Neal - CEO of Union Bank and Trust Company
Baxter F. Phillips, Jr. - President of Massey Energy [1]
Christopher Poole aka M00t - founder of 4chan[5]
Dick Robertson - President of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.[6]
Ron Tillett - Former Treasurer of Virginia, Secretary of Finance for Virginia.
Rob Wittman - Republican member of the United States House of Representatives representing Virginia's 1st congressional district

You know, it's not even fun anymore to jump all over Casey. He is like George on Seinfeld.

If that truly is the list of famous alums from VCU then it is a little lame. I have heard of very few of them (read that as ANY of them). At least we have John Goodman, the first guy on the Bachelor, Ryan Howard, etc. Again it sounds like a decent school but it is just in a crappy area. I have no beef with VCU.

ODU to CUSA is interesting. It shows what can happen when an administration can hire a successful basketball coach and then channel their energy towards football. They are just crazy about football if you read their boards. Good for them. Wish it was us.

Because when I think strong academics, I think people that have been on the bachelor, John Goodman, and Ryan Howard.

Have you ever heard of Sean Marshall, Brandon Inge, Scott Sizemore, Eric Maynor, Larry Sanders or Gerald Henderson?

The fact that you typed this paragraph in a completely serious, non-joking manner is one of the most unintentially hilarious things I have ever read on a message board.

Many years ago Art Linkletter had a segment titled "kids say the darndest things." I've come to the conclusion Casey says the darndest things with tounge in cheek to stir us up and he is succeeding.

Then again, I think John Goodman is more of an intellectual with an altruistic heart for people than Patch Adams. John Goodman....

Fun fact, John Goodman is a SigEp :)

Let's cut Casey some slack. He's a pretty nice and harmless poster from what I can tell and is good for a few laughs. I certainly enjoy his candidness more so than some of the, what young kids affectionately refer to as, trolls.
