Hey, remember when the Big East fell apart because some were football-first schools, some were basketball-first, some were non-football schools, and there were about 5 or 6 different strategies for the schools as far as sports went?

Well, I think we're about to see a small issue over differing endgames. Some schools want to go to FBS, some want to be powerful FCS programs, some without football want this to be a basketball first conference, some of the new additions want in for football reasons that conflict with the basketball-first schools....this is a Big East Jr. situation folks, whether or not anyone likes to admit it. What remains to be seen is if this means anything in the end or not.

NDSU and SDSU would be 2 more teams to split NCAA Tournament revenue with who will never earn at-large bids.

No thanks. I'd rather hang on at 9 teams than add another leech.

What do you base this comment on? Why wouldn't NDSU and SDSU be able to receive an at large bid if they were in our conference? Their RPI would immediately become more stable (year to year) and if they could be competitive (which I personally believe that this would happen), I don't see any reason why they would not be able to contribute positively.

If CU leaves, there are NO other replacement teams that would be their equal in basketball. The unfortunate thing however is that when they leave the RPI and SOS of each of the other teams in our conference would fall. Our talk about getting at-large bids may realistically be out the window the moment that they say goodbye.

Most years we are a 1-2 bid league - With CU. Without them we are a 1 bid league unless the league proactively tries to make the league better.

I am not on board with the additions right now but looking at RealTime N. Dakota St is 64 and S. Dakota St is 66...and that is playing in the 18th rated RPI league. Not sure what their 5 year average is. Some other teams mentioned current RPI in hoops...Dayton 107, ORU 106, Loyola 190, UW Mil 314

League members and fans said that about UNI for more than 10 years.

They've also been correctly saying it about Evansville for 20 years.

IMO, 9 is not an option.

Everybody already struggles to find OOC games. We all have to find two more now with the MWC challenge and BracketBuster going away. Nobody wants to be in a spot where they have to find two more after that. If we want to stay in the second tier we can't afford for all of us to have 2 or 3 SWAC and MEAC teams on the slate.

Not really. They were a perennial tourney team when they joined and quickly competed. However, they have just as quickly plummeted.

Everyone who joined the MVC in the early 90s wave (MSU, UNI, UE) was coming off strong runs in weak conferences with multiple NCAA bids. I am not sure what you are getting it.

UE has 1 NCAA bid since joining in 1994, 0 NIT appearances.
